Hello all. In lurking about in here for some time, I have come to really like the LV Sub, with that Maxi Dial and hands. The green bezel is not that appealing, but the black bezel mod really sings. My problem is who to order from. My goal is to get an LV Sub and order a bezel ring for it later. My problem / fear is that if I go with a rock bottom price, the movement will crap out on me.

So what would be my best bet for an LV sub? Any and all advice is appreciated. Regards, Marty

Let's make sure we're clear:
You want a standard Sub (black face and bezel on all stainless), but with the Maxi Dial and hands?

The 21J version are good for the price but yes, the movements have been know to crap out more often than the 2836, not yo mention the Beat rate is slower.

Without going into the Super Rep land of the TC and stuff.
You can get any LV from any dealer you choice, they are all pretty much about the same with the 2836A.
But it with the Green LV insert, get you a aftermarket WSO, Clark, etc.
There is a How to thread on here in the Rolex stickies and how to swap the insert out.
Thats the easiest way to get what you want.
If you want the cheaper version Reg has great ones, and hes getting ready to go get a batch.

Great point Rup!
Another thought, unless you plan on modding it, get one without the rehaut. Most of them are never properly aligned.

Interesting, I never noticed the date window pushed to the right. Does that mean that the one that Trevor sells has a date wheel overlay?

To the original poster, I'd get the Trevor watch for $150 with the the clone eta movement. With some easy bracelet sanding/oiling and a better insert/pearl you'll have a nice Sub. The next level is sending it to one of the modders for the works (crown guard shaping and super luming the dial) - figure on $300 or so.

The next price bracket is $400 - higher end subs from the dealers. I'm not sur they are worth it. Mostly you are paying for a "Swiss" or sa3135 movement.

Above that a $550 TC is probably the best out of the box sub you can buy.

Thanks for all the reccommendations. I did not know about the date window issue. Are there any references regarding this? How much are the date windows off in some reps?
