I love opening ceremonies! Sooo i sat down on my sofa and waited to be thrilled...

I want to be honest with you, and my apologies to my uk friends, but i was really dissapointed...

I only liked the part with the industrial revolution, besides that nothing to talk about it

I hope the games will be great :)

I loved the opening ceremony. A history lesson followed by musical rendition that is the envy of the world!

I found a feed online & watched it live. I've never taken LSD before, but now I understand what it's like to be tripping! As a whole, it was a disappointment. They had some great moments if you examine them in detail, but the bigger picture was too disjointed. It was like a bunch of performers came out at random, with no flow - no clear progression of establishing/tension/climax/resolution.

Okay, can someone PLEASE tell Paul McCartney that his time to retire is long overdue?
He may be a gifted musician still, but his singing is not even remotely to what it once was.

Furthermore I think these kind of events are just a complete waste of money....after all, the Olympics are about competing in sports, not about showing which country can organize the most spectacular opening event.
Why does everything always have to get bigger and more spectacular as time goes by?
I bet the ancient Greeks didn't spent enormous amounts of money to organize an Olympic opening ceremony way back when....

Really enjoyed it. I must say, the bond/queen bit and the Rowan Atkinson gag, were nice little touches. Nice to put a bit of humour in it too. Pity they couldn't get a few more iconic acts... Would have been nice to see the likes of Gilmour, Page, Jagger and so on up there. Though I was pretty impressed with some of the choices. For example, how they managed to get Oldfield to turn up is beyond me. Nice one. Oh, and McCartney is a national treasure... Hope he keeps playing and singing for as long as he can. It'll be a sad day when he's gone, and the danger is that they may start wheeling Ringo out...

I was expecting the worst but I thought with did ourselves proud.
With a quarter of the budget (of bejjing) it was an impressive show

How did they get the Queen to jump out of a helicopter?
At her age, that is remarkable!

Pretty interesting, Boss. If you can share I'm sure we'd love to hear some more. I thought I remember him being some type of composer.
