Impossible? Of cause not but save the 20 bucks and have them tested once they arrive.
Any "Watch Station" type mall booth can do a test for you.

They may be water RESISTANCE not water PROOF--have them tested before trusting them

I had my PO from Narikaa tested at a local watch-smith this week and it's fine for swimming (so I guess it's WR to at least 5ATM) and that's without any assurances from the TD.

+1.

Maybe it gets tested by the dealer, maybe not. Are you willing to bet the watch on it? There was recently a thread where the poster paid for the service and had his watch ruined as soon as it hit the water. After opening the case he found it didn't even have a rubber case gasket! Any sort of pressure test would have failed, so obviously it was never done.

The rule of thumb is never pay for extra services - pressure testing, movement servicing, etc., because there's simply no way to ensure they were actually done.

Spend your money somewhere where you can see the pressure test being performed, or at least trust that it was done properly.

PLEASE do not make the mistake of thinking something that looks like a divers watch will EVER perform like a divers watch - because it won't.

At the end of the day, you'll do whatever you want to do with your watches. If I needed to know the time that badly when I was swimming, I'd wear a Casio, and when it did eventually fail one day, I'd throw it away and buy a new one. Prolly cheaper than a pressure test anyway.
