Hello-

I am new to watches and what better place to get advice than from all of the knowledgeable member here at RWI. I am looking to purchase a Gen watch for my father, budget is between 3-5 thousand USD. He is not a Rolex guy and wants a Chrono, seems to be attracted to more traditional styles, Omega, Tutima etc.. I was hoping to get some suggestions on maybe a more contemporary piece, a solid timepiece that people don't see everyday, something that can be worn in and out of the office. Any suggestions guy?

Anything other than traditional brands though... Maybe a cool vintage piece?

If he likes big heavy watches, or is a big guy, the SMP Chrono is your watch. It's about the size and weight of the DSSD.
If not go TAG.

My favorite vintage chrono is the Universal Geneve Bi or Tri Compax, but those are mostly out of your price range.

I agree with Crossbones, the SMP chrono is nice. The Speedmaster is another choice.

Omega Speedmaster is a really good option. I think it's one of the nicest looking chronos around.

Bought my dad a Seiko fifty fathoms... He loves it!

And so do I.

But if I had 3-5k budget I would get him a PO.
