Ever spot a rep or suspicious of the owner not looking the part, to own a watch of x= value?

Then the squint of the eye channels towards the owner, sizing him down wondering if "HE KNOWS" ..... or best yet, if "HE KNOWS YOU KNOW!?" :biglaugh:

Happened to me the other day at the post office. Guy in suit wearing a gmt pepsi color was starting at my pam ;I was wearing rip jeans and old t shirt; He sized me down and I felt nervous hes calling me out in my head. I held my composure and kept on. A little stare off was exchanged at the wrists, and in the end, quick nod and squint of the eye of acknowledgment, the dust was clear. Kept it moving...

It had me wondering if he knows that I knew, or vice versa>?

Anways, your stories?

I hear stories like this all the time. And my reaction is always, "who cares?"

Maybe he knows. Maybe he doesn't know. Maybe he's thinking that he'd like to buy a watch just like it, and he wouldn't pair it with ripped jeans.

I figure that at the end of the day, if you've carried yourself well, it doesn't matter if your watch is a rep or not. Be respected for your manner and conduct, not your watch. :)

Pams pair well with ripped jeans assuming they were clean ripped jeans.
Never judge a person by the clothes he wears, some of the richest people I know dress like bums.

True that.

I saw a guy a starbucks the other day and the guy ahead of me was wearing a black magic.. guy didn't look like anything special. I live in the south so he was wearing some khaki shorts and a t shirt with a fish on it. lol I commented on it and he was shocked I knew what it was as there are a lot of Rollies here but I've never seen a Hublot in the wild... In any case you can never judge a book by it's cover. Warren Buffett still lives in the house he did when he was just starting out.

I had a meeting with Michael Dell once; he showed up in jeans and a plain white tshirt...lol--so true

I had lunch the other day with an old friend and I had on my BK DSSD and he had a beautiful Montblanc pen in his shirt pocket. i of course commented on it and he said "man I did not pay $700 for this pen it is a replica. I bought it while on vacation and got a great deal because I bought my wife a replica rolex at the same time". He said "her Rolex is real nice too, but it is nothing like the real thing like the one you have---you can always tell the perfection of a real Rolex like you have on". I didn't want to make him look stupid so I said nothing...lol

Happens to me all the time ...
Lot of stares at my wrist but never got a “dirty” look, and I dont dress like a bum. However I do wear jeans and casual weekend outfit.
Just carry it with confidence and keep your composure and know your watches. Lead the conversation like you know your s**t and take the chat to a whole new level or divert the attention. The “Diversion Technique”, is what I call it, and it works.

At a car dealer (manager was wearing a PAM), I was wearing my PAM rep, I started the convo:
ME: Oh Nice watch ?
Dealer: Yours nice too (he was a bit hesitant so may be his was a rep too)
Spotted his PAM model, introduced mine to him.
He was still hesitant about his watch a bit (lack of confidence is a bad sign :)

At a restaurant – owner wearing a Roles – he started the convo:
Owner: Oh Nice Pam - what kind..
ME: Oh thanks, it’s my one of the prized possession.. PAM 196
Owner: Very nice I wanted to buy one while traveling Europe..
ME: Why not you will love it I love mine keep staring and cheeking time all day – get it you will love it
Owner: I am thinking of ….
(Diversion technique emanating confidence)
ME: I was going for the Rolex first, but then decided to get this baby … Have you seen the new Ceramica Version .. the … the … PAM00438 – OMG my heart skipped a beat when I saw that one, just convincing my wife now
Owner: Oh yeah yeah it’s awesome (I know he was BSing me now, and was slowly backing away)
Just carry it as if you OWN it , even if it is a rep its YOURS– but again you cannot have this kinda convo with an expert – at that point you either slowly retreat or try the “Diversion Technique” ?
Again how many people are PAM experts? 1 in a mil ?
I am not an expert on PAM (yet, but I know a bit to talk about them, thanks to RWI)

Like this dude at work wears a PAM (I have seen two different models on him), neither of us acknowledged each other’s watch even though we talk here and there.

What does that tell you?
He is arrogant?
May be his is a rep too? And is scared to have a chat with me ?
Lot of mix thoughts are going thru ones head with a rep :)

Again wear with confidence and F’em all whoever gets judgemental!

Best regards to all.
