...because nothing says "F1" more than a porthole shaped watch.
I've heard that there are:
1) Podium watches - the watches that are put on by the top 3 drivers before they go out onto the podium to receive their trophies
2) Interview watches - the watches they wear when they are being questioned post-race in the internationally broadcast interview segment
I guess both are photo-ops but I can't see how watch manufacturers get much bang for the buck for they money they pay to have the watch on during these times. I mean I have an Hi-Def TV and I can't make out the watches for the split seconds that they are visible.
Sometimes I've been surprised that some drivers don't put on a watch--I guess they didn't have any watch sponsorship for that event.
They almost all wear wat ever they are given by sponsors.
Michael Schumacher is the only "watch guy" I know about.
