Hi bro, can please kindly advise which model of AP is closest to gen? I believe is alright to pay a premium for a better quality watch. Thx

The safari, black themes and rubberclad i believe are closest to gen but still have flaws like crown position, caseback thickness etc etc

The Diver v3 is probably the most accurate AP rep to date. The Chronopassion is very good too. All the rest of the ROO line (black themes, safari, rubber clad) are very, very good but have a few minor flaws like caseback thickness, datewindow position and crown/pusher alignment that really no one will notice.

yea.. it has to be the diver now. the 44mm Roos all have thicker casebacks.

the only major flaw ( even though I don't think it really is) is the highbeat movement.. the gen has a 21.6k bph.

you can always find an eta low-beat and swap it

Is ther a new chronopassion rep, that is made on a new mold?
I would think the chronopassion shares the common flaws as all other AP ROO chrono versions.
only additional accuracy on some would be correct colour and finish. -maybe I am wrong.
I'd say that the AP ROO's are great watches, but in general have quite a few easy tells; as mentioned, date position, caseback thickness crown position some even have wrong pushers. -still a great watch with a grat feel.
the diver is free of these common flaws, and is built on a different mold all together.

Any idea which version shld.i b asking.for ap rubberclad?

There's only one high end version worth getting, the secs@12 model. Any one you order now will have the all the latest upgrades, but it doesn't hurt to ask your dealer to make sure that you're getting the latest model.

I actually just ordered a Rubberclad last week from Toro Bravo, should be getting here in a few days. I'm pretty excited.

The grand prix is a brilliant watch in its own right (especially with the gen forged carbon parts) but it is not accurate to the gen because of 1 major flaw: the movement. The A7750 movement does not look remotely similar to the gen movement and this does not help that the watch has an open caseback.

I think you may be right about the Chronopassion. I was just parroting what I thought I had heard about it being more accurate than others, but you're probably right as I'm sure it has the same dimensions as the other ROOs.

45acp,

Did you also order the V3 Diver?

No, not yet. I have to stop ordering watches for a couple of months, as I have spent an unjustifiable amount of money recently. It is on my short list to order, though, along with a new 164N.

+1, the v3 is great though. It will be my first AP for sure.

I know what you mean. I left watches for a few months and indulged in another hobby that can also be expensive.

I remember last year when the Pam 237h came out. That along with several other purchases put a nice dent in my wallet! :)

Number one is the AP Diver V3, no doubt about it.

Next I would say AP Black Themes, Chronopassion, Volcano, Silver Themes, Tour Auto, Driver Boutique, some more.

How do you think the Rubberclad stacks up?

It's supposed to be pretty good, I've seen side by sides and the differences are pretty minimal. I'm curious to hear what the resident AP expert says about it though. I don't know if any recent changes have been made beyond the AR'd cyclops, but here's my QC pics from my watch that should be here in a couple of days:

Pushers are still a little bit too flat-topped, I may have to round them down a little.
