water-resistance mod

I just purchased a DSSD from puretime. Its the most exact replica they had available, but the water-resistance is only 50m. I am sure there are methods.to make this watch more resistant, and if so, what should i.do to achieve this? Better yet, who should I let do the mods? Also, what is the max water resistance I could expect? Thanks!

How do you know it's even 50 ? The HE valve is the weak point in any DSSD. I've had unmodded ones leak. The DSSD that RSH modded for me was sealed. I dove in Cancun with it. Had no issues. Where do you plan on going with it that you need more than 50m ?

On their website it states it has been factory tested to 50m. I go to the lake almost every weekend and just want the satisfaction in know my watch will be protected. So you would recommend RSH for the mod I assume, sorry Im new-how do i contact him?

I agree, I would not trust that the manufacture waterproofed the watch to any depth, the only way to be sure is to have it tested by someone qualified on this forum.

The website also claims 1:1. It is far from that. You need to do a lot of reading on this forum. Lots of marketing phrases used by dealers, are not true. These watches are not 1:1, and many will likely leak. There are a few modders here who can seal it , and test it as well. Going to a lake will likely not require 50 meters. That's 164 feet. You're going to be deeper than that ?

I wouldn't personally trust a dealer stating the watch is waterproof.

Unless, it's Sead since he deals with a smaller stock and can do mods himself.

I have only ever greased up the seals and tightened the case back on all of my reps, and I have swam in them all, including the n factory dssd. Unless you are doing deep diving, this should suffice. Go to a dive shop and get yourself a container of silicon grease and a fine stiff brush.

And in the case of the DSSD you need to seal HE from inside as it is most of the time from where the watch leaks.

Yes. What they said.
Send it to a modder or watch smith to seal the He valve and grease the gaskets and test it.
Until you do that, you shouldn't even shower with a rep. REGARDLESS of what the dealer says!
And if you're really going more than 150' deep in the water, you are going to need a true dive computer and NOT a standard diving watch which really isn't used for diving.

That was my question. If you're diving that deep, your watch is the least of your concerns.

It needs to be water tested - find a watchsmith - I am yet to find a TD who will put in writing they guarantee the watch won't leak under water.

A few splashes here and there but diving with it - doubt it !

Its cheap to get is water proofed - $20-$50 depending on watch.

Check the modification and repair session on this forum, you will find good information there.
