No not a bad price when you consider guys will plop down 300-400 for a rep with horrible qc and no warranty.

This is a quality watch, a solid brand name, and doesn't need a mod to be worn. So far I like it and I'm not seeing a down side to this watch.

I had model #96C005 a few years back, great watch, sold it, but never forgot about it. I'll see if I can a pic.

Just tried on the 96B158 on a metal bracelet, and wasn't impressed in the least. Hope the champlain is better. Here's a shot:

Boostin, I haven't seen it in person yet. Tell me what you didn't like or tell me what you thought.

The model I tried had a boring dial and looked cheap. Also, on the model i tried, it was sweeping slow and stopped in the middle of me looking at it. On a different note, the case fit my 6&3/4" wrist like a 44mm pam. I was pleasantly surprised about that. If I see a champlain in my upcoming travels, I'll post a shot when I try it on.

Boostin, I agree, what a F'ing disappointment. I do like the movement and bracelet but the rest of the watch is a bore and not a watch I'm buying. I was really expecting it to be much better in person, its not.

The Champlain is a very different watch. Really interesting curvature of the case and crystal, deep carbon fiber face, some knurled surfaces. Totally different from the plain-Jane model you posted above in every way.

I tried on the black and gold precisionist yesterday, and it restored my faith in that model. It's f'in awesome in person, and wears just like a 44mm pam. It has to be 17-18mm thick. Too bad the rip-off store I was at wanted $650 for it. When I saw the price I handed the guy the watch back, turned around, and left the store without saying a word.

I had the Bulova Precisionist Claremont on black leather strap, and I ended up selling it. The watch is quite large, and is definitely on the upper end of watches which I would be comfortable wearing on my 6.75" wrist, but it is well-curved, and hugs the wrist quite well. The thing which bothered me the most about the watch was how light it was given its size, and this made it feel cheaply made.

I would love to see that Precisionist movement in a nice understated 40mm dress watch with a sapphire crystal. For their sports models, if they used a metal movement holder instead of plastic, that might make for a more substantial feel on the wrist.

The Champlain is a very substantial watch. Perhaps you tried the titanium model?

They do offer a new more rugged version now with a steel bracelet and unidirectional bezel. It is a chunk of steel, feels like an anvil on your wrist. Yet the price of admission is an unbearable 48mm size.

They just need some better styling and need to take the size down a bit. I've passed on so many watches of many brands do to the size alone.

The movement sure is cool and that I really like alot.

been up for a few mins only...hopefully it will be great 1 day!

And you'll continue to do so.

Even the most high end brands are sizing up, and sadly the trend seems to be going away no time soon.
