Hey guys! I just bought a TC M series sub and I believe the crown guards are to long. I searched this forum as well as the others and cannot find a picture review. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Crown guard trimming/nipping tutorial?

I am needing to shorten the crown gaurds as they are covering the majority of the crown. I have looked at many gen pics and they don't seem so pointy. I was looking at a how to guide on the type of sand paper grit # and what to use to buff them back to a shiny luster.

When i do them by hand, I start with 600grit, then use 1000grit, then polish with a dremel, final polish with cape cod or similar polishing wading. Shines up really nice
Here are a few pics please let me know your thoughts. So far I have removed the rehaut engraving, added a gen crystal and gen insert. But those crown guards may not be right.
They are not really that bad....ive seen waaaaaaay worse! You could lightly massage them down if your being picky

Rick, the link you show above with the CG's shaved looks gen to me & thats how all CG's should be. The gen pics I have seen has the CG's up to midway of the crown.
Ocean, my sub looks like yours & your CG's could be shaved a bit as well............
Also, here is a link where you can see a gen sub......look at the overhead picture of the CG's & crown, nice wide space in between the CG's & crown & the CG's are only midway high to the crown. It seems dealers/modders have problems getting it right like the gen.......yes im being picky but for the price they charge, I can be.........
It depends on how serious you want to get about it. If you just want to put a good polish on it then you can use something like Flitz paste. However, if you want to be a man about it then you'll want to get some French jewelers rouge.
Ocean, you're more courageous about the aspect of fixing the problem with the CG's than I am......I would be scared to make a mistake that would mess up the watch.
Ok, crown guards are done! They look great! A little sandpaper and a dremel about 2hrs and we are done. I go to put the stem back in and I think I screwed up the keyless works! Lol! Stem won't stay in, wont set time or date and the stem release wont pop back up from the depressed postion. well time do disassemble the ETA and try to figure it out. This is such a love hate hobby.
Damn bro, sorry to hear that.......this is why I dont mess with watches. I have the tools to unscrew the back but thats as far as I go. Good luck with fixing it.
