Hello, I am currently interested in buying a Rolex Explorer I.
Does anyone know where I could get it V3?
I bought the 2010 Explorer I Asian ETA 2836 from Trevor and was not satisfied with the replica. There are clearly visible clumps of lume "paint" on the markers. I already sent it back for a exchange.

I want a replica as close as possible to the genuine. Bright LUME if possible

I think all the V3 Explorers have the weird lume paint, you could just send them to get a relume for close to gen lume and the clumps will be gone. I've heard about another quite accurate version of the Explorer I by trustytime, but I think he's not a trusted dealer here and his watch just has other tells, so IMO you should go with the V3 everybody sells and mod it

They are two different watches. The Explorer 36mm stopped being produced in 2010 (ish) and was replaced by the 39mm version.

Did you have the 39mm from Trevor? If it had a blue lume it was probably the V3, as I think (!) the V1 and V2 had the incorrect green lume. The V3 also has the wrong hands a gloss dial instead of matte, and I think there is a problem with the shape of the crown.

I recently bought the 36mm from Trevor which is very nice, but is actually only 35mm, but has a very nice green lume, which is correct for the 36mm (I posted a review in the Rolex section). Another member Giobo also got one from Trevor at the same time and he says his is 37mm wide, with a poor lume! I can't verify this as he HASN'T POSTED ANY PICTURES!!!

The 36mm is renowned as one of the best out of the box reps, but it maybe worthwhile PM ing Trevor to see which size you're gonna get!

Let us know....

Sorry for it but i am telling you 100% sure it is 37mm mate...
You will get use to the size except for the times you will change it with a DSSD...

It's not that I don't believe you Giobo. As I said in a previous post I find it a little bizarre a TD can sell a watch advertised as 36mm, only to send out two different versions, NEITHER of which are the correct size!

The point I was making is that from our recent purchases, even with a TD and after doing a LOT of homework, you never know what you're gonna get! The point of these forums is surely the exchange of experience and information. It's hardly surprising that it's a very confusing hobby for noobs and more experienced collectors alike when there is no consistency in the watches we buy.
That's the beauty of the "who has the best sub" question. It's like "what is the meaning of life?" and the answer being "42" !!

It's also what makes this hobby so fascinating.

Re the DSSD......think I might go for the a V4 of the Explorer 39mm, IF it ever appears. Be fascinating to see if I get a 38mm or 40mm version.

I indeed did get the 39mm. I think I will have to ask Trevor for a exchange for the 36mm then! Hopefully it is a closer replica, thank you all for the response!
