Hey guys!

New to the forum! great info here!

After surfing for hours....I've decided on purchasing the following?

http://www.marvellousreplica.com/products_detail.php?ProId=1032

Anyone have any advice? I'm also confused of ceramic vs non-ceramic

http://www.marvellousreplica.com/products_detail.php?ProId=1039

I assume Ceramic is better because its more expensive?

I've heard good stuff about marvellous rep... anyone know how long it takes to have delivered?

And, is this a watch I need to mod or anything?

Thanks everyone in advance! great site. :maty:

Congrats on finding the one forum to rule them all :) there's a ton of reading and learning but everyone here although sarcastic are very knowledgeable and very informative but most of all just great people :)

I don't know much about rolexes however there are a few threads I have read and it seems that the ceramic is more brittle especially if you take it out for anything. Im sure there are people that will know a lot more.

Welcome,

that is a nice watch to start with, good movement. Definitely go with ceramic. It is more brittle, as jstreit has said, but as long as you're not going to be banging it left and right, you'll be fine.

You never NEED to mod anything... but once you get the watch and acquire more information about the watch, you'll start to notice small issues, including maybe a misaligned rehault. But for the time being, don't worry about modding.

EMS from china to US is a sh*t show.. Can be as fast as 3 days (my record) or it could spend 2 weeks in customs (my worst). But expect 10 days as a safe bet.

Either of those would be a good choice. I like the non ceramic personally. I'd wear it for a while and enjoy it, then get a few basic mods done. Lume, water proof, etc.

Ceramic and non-ceramic versions are replicas of two different watches. The older style (16610) non-ceramic and the new style with chunkier case/dial/hands etc (116610).

Just go google those two reference numbers and have a look at some pictures to compare them against the reps.

ah cool thanks guys!

not that I play any sports or anything, but I've had a few hard bangs with my present watch.

I like the styling on both, so I should probably get the non-ceramic for durabilty?

Why does the ceramic cost more? is it because its a newer model? Also when you say " brittle" how bad? if its as good as a Fossil watch, I'm sold...those take a beating...lol

Ceramic or not has not to do with durabillity..The ceramic bezel cannot be scratched easilly..

The $20 difference between the two is just materials used in construction. The non-ceramic is just an aluminium insert, whereas the ceramic is real ceramic. Really scratch proof but there is always the possibility of damaging with a really hard knock against it.

Ceramic version also wears bigger on the wrist. They are both 40mm but the ceramic has thicker case, thicker lugs, thicker crownguards all which make it look bigger on the wrist.

I would say that besides the pearl, the ceramic sub is better looking ootb
The non ceramic sub needs a few mods as the CG's are almost always incorrect along whit the pearl, the most imposible thing to replicate in the rolex watches lol

Dude, go research Submariners so you know what model you are trying to buy. I have that Sub-C and it is a great out of the box rep. Being a newer style Sub, it also has the glidelock clasp which is very nice. The other one you linked to, the "big dot" Sub, would be an anniversary Submariner with a black bezel. Normally, the bezel would be green. It's a little bit of a weird combo but can exist as a gen.

Either are a great choice for a first rep.

Thanks everyone! major help. I'm ready to order!

I assume http://www.marvellousreplica.com is a trusted source? anyone know a better one?

Also, I like the Blue ceramic mode—how do the colors hold up? on the plain and the two-toned? any experience of peeling or anything?

OP:

1) MR is one of, if not the best dealer we have. You won't go wrong with him.
2) My vote is for the 16610 (non-ceramic) sub, with the smaller dots (markers). The larger dots are for the one w/ a green bezel (in gens anyways). The smaller crown guards, lugs also make the watch "blend" into the bracelet better than the larger, chunkier Sub-C does. This is just one man's opinion though.
3) Welcome! I remember when I was just like you, looking for my first rep (a sub). That was before I spent literally thousands on rep watches to play with, mod, trade, etc. Have fun!
