A customer where I work came in, had to be pushing 80. He was wearing a salvation army looking outfit and $20 payless spalding shoes. Yet he was wearing a Daytona.

That's all. I would have taken a pic, but I'm not a spy or creeper. Goes to show anyone can pull off a watch if they want. Even if I sat there and stared at it, unless it was a 21j with fake chronos, I wouldn't be able to tell if its real or not.

People that have a lot & are millionaires some time act like they dont have anything & dress like bums but some times they act like they own the world........it just depends on the person, you never know........

There is a guy that comes into my brothers restaurant & dresses like a farmer.....the guy wears a Timex watch but is worth probably over 50 million dollars..........he owns one of the biggest construction companies on the east coast I believe. Hes definitely down to earth & doesnt act like he has much money & drives a beat up pick up truck..........

I agree never judge someone lest they hang themselves with their own hand and rope.

is g8b even around anymore..?

OP, I feel the same way, I can't tell who has a rep and who has the real deal from arms length, heck, I'd have a hard time even being a few inches away :)

Yes, but I bet you can spot a custom strap a mile away Bronzy and you keep getting better and better.

It's a bad 21j Rep, it's all about the suffering. LOL

The Dali Lama's Rolex has been with him for quite some time. I forget who gave it to him but it's one of his most valued possessions. I asked him about it once and his rely was that yes, it's just a watch but it's a very good one and regrettably time is important to him due to his commitments.

Funny thing happened to me at the casino yesterday.

I was on a table with a Chinese middle-aged guy wearing an obvious Rolex sub rep with polished mid-links and recessed crystal (man, they were obvious from across the table). But he was betting roughly $1,000 each deal. You really can't judge anyone.

on a similar, yet side, note... in normal cities, not the fancy hollywood types, what percentage of high dollar watches do you think are gen?

Tonight was a busy night. For you conus folk, I work at a trader joes. I first saw the old man with the daytona, shortly after, a woman wearing a full yellow gold rolex... then a few minutes before closing a guy wearing a full ss bentley 675 walked in.

I think Im starting to know too much now for my own good, because of this wonderful site. Whenever I see a pricey watch, I always think "pfff, probably a rep".

So again, in your everyday city, not those hollywood, beverly hills type cities, what do you think the split is, gen to rep? Of all those rolexes you might pass by throughout the week... how many are "real"?
