That JLC is really growing on me. Compared to the gens I was trying on the other day, I think it could easily hold its own against them, despite being a fantasy model.

Besides, watches come and go in model ranges, I highly doubt anyone in a work/social environment would be able to call you on such a piece.

There are certain models that are easy tells, like the FM revolution 3. The rep looks horrible while the gen is a masterpiece and probably one of the complicated tourbys out there. this is the rep...

and this is the gen....

Big difference lol

I think the JLC one would be a safe one to go with and it looks nice:)

I you want 1:1 accuracy, don't buy a tourbillon rep.

The rep picture is not a tourbillon at all... That's the cheapest junker you can buy and isn't worth a mention in any discussion about tourbillons. The gen pictured is a tri-axis gyro tourbillon - a whole other level of complication...

Oh I know, I was just saying that there is a large variance in tourbillons in reps and what they are passed off as compared to the real thing. and I think the largest whole is the FM revolution 3 rep and gen.

Man, that revilution 3
Looks really shitty.
The JLC is great for classy the Hublot is good for cool factor. I'd go for class every time.

actually I pasted the wrong pic of the gen lol, thats the revolution 3-1 which has a ton of bells and whistles and came out a year later than the Evolution 3 came out which only(and I say only loosely lol) a triple axis gyro tourbillon.

Yeh, the complications on that gen look unreal!

Don't forget about wrist size... Personally, I'm limited due to the fact that I'm not a small guy. There are plenty of tourb's that I love, but they look 'lost' on my wrist. The Hublot and Franck are great sizes for me, but the skeletonised hublot definitely has a higher level of finish than the others I've owned... Although, I've heard that's hit and miss also....

As far as the FM Aeternitas tourbillon reps go, this one is very close to the gen. I bought this tourby rep about 6 months ago, and been wearing it almost every day. Surprised with how well this keeps time. It gains maybe about a minute a week at most. You've got a pretty good movement in this, as compared to some of the other models (Shanghai vs. the more common Hangzhou and Liaoning). Power reserve of 60+ hours on a full wind (same as with the gen FM Revolution tourby movements). Pretty darn nice rep, IMO. Here's photos of both gen and rep.

I really like the WHO BLOW tb's, although they're quite expensive for a rep watch

I bought mine from a guy called minorva88 on ebay. His are not branded or trying to imitate anything genuine (though he sells a sort-of-PAM-looking thing that is really ugly). I went that route because the branded ones are generally not very accurate to the genuine. Mine was in the $400 range and works like a trooper--I can stare at all those tiny wheels for hours.

For me the JLC is a beauty, and the ultimate......... and really will get one some day..
not a massive Hublot fan, but starting to change my mind a bit looking at some on here!!

just on a slight different slant, did any of the UK members see Simon Cowell on Jonathon Ross last week? he was sporting what looked like a tourby of some kind

What the hell is he thinking??! Doesn't the fool realize that he can afford one of these....
i70egm.jpg

A much better investment!

Umm... that's $2.7 million, compared to maybe $120K for the JLC. This really is an instance when less is more, and I would go with the JLC Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon instead.
