Hey there guys, warning ferociously nooby questions coming. :)

I am looking at a few different replicas to purchase and have some general replica questions. The ones I have been looking at seem to fall into 3 price brackets: 100ish, 200ish, and 400ish

Is this a quality difference, movement difference(disclaimer not totally sure what the different movements mean), cost to manufacture, or just based on popularity/what the market will support?

The Raymond Weil Nabuccos seem to be going for $400,.. based on the retail that makes sense.

But then looking at various Tag Carrera models they range from $230-$390. At face value they seem to very similar:

The specs look almost identical to my "untrained" eye,.. why is one twice the price?

Thanks, tried searching but I can't find a clear answer.

Looking for a GOOD replica and dont mind paying I just want to know what I am paying for.

Thanks, :conga:

Price points are based on accuracy, component parts costs and movement for the most part. In the case of the watches you have posted, the price difference is that the cheaper one is smaller and made from Stainless Steel. The larger one is made from Titanium.

I suggest you browse the forums and read the sticked posts at the top of the pages. They are there for a reason.

With our trusted dealers here as a general rule of thumb is more money does equal a better quality / more accurate watch.

Not always but most of the time.

Mainly due to movement difference. In the example you gave it's due to a less likely scenario, the metal used like Bones said. Also theres the added day function, newer model, etc.

The chronograph watches with the A7750 are the correct types with movements that duplicate the genuine. A21j or quartz movements are incorrect.

Take note of the rule of diminishing returns on each buck.
In another words, increasing the spending from 100$ to 200$ on the same model of a watch will see more of a jump in quality than from 200$ to 300$, usually.

Movement and accuracy(as stated on earlier posts) are usually the issues.

Good points,.. thank you very much.

So in short the best value (from trusted dealers on this forum) would be a $150-$250 A7750 movement replica with the pricing exception of certain watches that are made from more costly materials.

Am I missing anything?

:)

As a general rule, yes. You get what you pay for in this game. Most of the dealers are pretty competitively priced for what we are getting.

The differences on these watches are the material (Ti is more expensive than SS) and the double AR in the crystal. Because a good double AR, like the Tag Day Date has, can cost about 40-60 $

Concerning price range, IMHO 150$ seems a little short to get a 7750 watch, you will need 200$ or more.

Just my opinion

Things you can count on adding significantly, which will not be diminishing returns, are:
Movements: eta, st-19 or a7750 (the good ones, no disrespect to 649x, but those are less complicated and thus cheaper) start around 200-250
Case materials: ss<ti<ceramic
Crystal: plexi<mineral<sapphire (correct me if I'm mistaken, and it's mineral<plexi<sapphire). Sapphire is usually at least 40$ more.
Ar: add 40-60, depending on quality and single or double
Superluminova: there is not usually an option for superlumed or not superlumed, but 30$ more expensive is far from unreasonable
Finish: hard to define, hard to put a number on, but higher priced reps tend to have it better. By the time you are getting a 400$ rep, you can expect it to feel pretty damn good, and often stand up to scrutiny (without a loupe). @100 or less, not so much.

Already you see that for materials alone a good rep of a complicated watch can easily cost 200+40+40+30= 310 and up without overpaying for anything or entering into diminishing returns.

Remember also that there are different versions of an a7750. If you pay 150 for an a7750 watch, you're probably getting the less reliable low beat version which is made by a different company than the better, 29 jewel 28,800 vph version.
