I ask the same myself, some of them the expensive ones (60 dolare) look so close to the one i bought from the dealer that im tented to buy it just to check

Maybe they are the cheapest versions of the watch? I did buy a $30 Silix special Submariner and compared to my $60 Timeshops Noob Submariner it had:

the same case
but
very cheap bracelet
cheaper version of the 21j movement
plastic movement holder instead of metal ring (and movement not held down other than by the stem)

The $60 Timeshops version was definitely worth the extra money, IMO. Still, I'm tempted to order a $30 with free shipping sub just to see what I get. They take paypal so I don't have to give them my CC number.

In my opinion there is nothing inherently wrong with "cheap" reps or "canal street" reps. Yes, they have inaccuracies. If you want to search out the "most accurate to gen" watch you can do so and you can pay the premium price most will cost. If you want "best bang for the buck" you can search that out also and find the best value. If you want "cheap" you can find that. I have watches in all categories and I enjoy them all. Some of my most visually inaccurate and cheapest watches are highly time accurate and serve great for when I am out in the yard working. Let's be honest. The quartz movement is the best movement.

The point is we there are different "levels" for different uses and we should not look down upon, or make fun of, a lesser level. Just understand "they are what they are" and don't expect them to be more than that. You don't constantly criticize and put down your wife because she is a supermodel, do you? You appreciate her for the qualities she does have. If you want to pay $600 for a rep to wear while you are doing mechanical work on your car, fine. But it might be far wiser to also have a $60 rep so you don't beat up your $600 watch. After all, how many mechanics are going to laugh at your Rolex sub and make fun of you because the ns are not aligned? Let's be realistic and not think the value of "most accurate to gen" is the only value in rep collection.

I've never understood the exact definition of a canal st rep. Does a $30 silix special count as one of those? I thought the quality of those is pretty high for the price because I have heard of super cheap pot metal watches.

+1 w/ giobo. He's right. I found this on RG & bought one for fun; even pointed to the missing tine in the coronet. When I receive it (hopefully, I told RG I'd give a review -- and for RWI perhaps. Sometimes these cheapies "ain't too bad." We'll see.
