I'm getting the impression that with many reps you basically need to be prepared to take it apart and put it back together properly. Two more issues have cropped up on my last order - a loose crystal on one watch and a stripped oyster bracelet screw on another. But, two out of the four watches I ordered are so far spot-on perfect.

No, not lower, a more reasonable tolerance is all. Drawing lines to see if everything lines up, are you kidding me? :lol1:

I wouldnt be surprised at all to see dealers eventually stop doing QC pics.

+1

We should start drawing lines through gens too. Might motivate watchmakers like Blancpain and Breguet to stop this awful practice of using human beings to assemble watches.

When I was first into reps like 10+ years ago there wasn't a single oyster bracelet where you didn't have to control all screws after recieving...
The bracelet which was best was my $80 YM one. One screw needed tightening and very minor noticeable wear after 3 years of occasional usage.

We should start drawing lines through gens too. Might motivate watchmakers like Blancpain and Breguet to stop this awful practice of using human beings to assemble watches.

As I stepped into the gen collecting after the first reps, QC issues on gens also are common. Bad aligned markers, dust on the dial or bad aligned bezel were the most frequent, a second hand falling off after a week was the most severe.

So, also with the gens you have these kind of issues. Less often and the AD will take care of them immediately, but this is the service you get with a significantl higher price ;)

I appreciate all the sarcasm and points made but in reality why would I settle for a watch with problems (as opposed to known tells or flaws)

I have gotten perfect reps delivered in the past and there is no reason to lower my expectation bar on this one. crooked marker is there and would bug hell out of me. this is perfect opportunity to "fix the problem" before watch is delivered. not after.

thanks again to everyone contributed.

respectfully disagree. Unfortunately there is no QC Pix separate thread here as on RG forum. This is clearly not a bragging post otherwise it would have gone into Eye Candy thread and with much better pictures.

I genuenly wanted to have few expert rollie eyes to take a look and spot things that I may have missed. Think of it as just preventive measure to avoid unnecessary disappointments.

You noticed the twelve marker looked funny in your opening post. What else changed?

I would say.. . Keep all QC threads on RG if anything. I don't care if their forum is flooded with them.

I love both RG and this Forum! Each has its merits. At least to me.

All I wanted is fellow afficianados' opinion, fresh pair of eyes to check the watch before it is shipped. Not sure why I am geting flamed.

Moderator/Admin: Please close this thread if QC pix and related questions are not welcomed here.

I take it as a compliment then, becuase i did not trust my eyes as much....

I hoped for nothing else, and opinions expressed here thankfully just confirmed that. Exactly what I was looking for.

To ask if the twelve marker looks bad was not the problem I saw. It was asking for "anything else?" you guys can point out part that kind of bugged me.

So asking if you are "seeing things" with that twelve marker = cool
Asking if "anything else you guys see wrong" = uncool

Good luck and I hope you get a kick ass SD! :)

I wonder how many people have seen this and said, "I sure wouldn't want to sell a used watch to him."

I hate these threads as they are unfair to the dealers and usually make half the contributors and the OP look like pains in the ass. If you can't see the problem with a watch then there isn't any problem.

I don't get some of you guys, happy to take rep watches with crooked markers? Good for you, go for it! Don't expect others to live with your lower standards, and yes, they are lower than my acceptable standards, word it however you want! lol :)

When I asked my dealer to swap the last Rolex rep that had a crooked marker, the dealer was happy to do so, wanting me to get a watch I was pleased with, no big deal for him, or me. I think some of you just think too much "drama" about this, they have so many of these watches to hand to exchange, it makes no difference to them! ;)

They would prefer they swap the rep when it' s within their control, than after its been shipped half way round the world into the buyers now dissapointed hands after all :)

Guys, the OP is well within his rights to ask the dealer to replace the watch if there's a problem that warrants it. No one is questioning that. What is unreasonable is asking questions such as "Any other comments or observations?" We would like to discourage threads inviting people to play the "spot the problem I couldn't spot" game. There's a thread about that here: http://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/purpose-qc-pictures-95316 RWI staff believe that this stance towards QC photos is in the interest of the forum and its members.

The OP has an issue with a marker, and why go any further? You dun like it, let the dealer know, and either he will get you one to your satisfaction, or tell you to move on. Either way, you win.
No one has a problem with wanting a nice watch...Asking the entire community to dissect a REPLICA is not really a rational thing to do. They are all flawed. Heck, a good portion of our membership can find flaws in gens also.

:picard:Gentlemen, I GOT THE POINT.

Certainly I did not mean to stirr the pot.:stir:

I am new to rollies period. moreso to 666 variety.

Yet all I wanted is expert eyes take on QC issues that I DID NOT SPOT AND STATED IN MY OP. thats all. I didn't expect any rep vs gen type of feedback or my question being translated into "community - dealer relationship" variety.

MODERATORS: kindly close this thread and add a rule abolishing QC related qustions of "anything else I have not noticed?" kind.

Thanks. I have walked a fine line...or so it seems.

BTW I have asked for the replacement due to the crooked marker. Also not with eta 2836 thats modded to look like 3135. Just a regular 2836. I am in very good and long lasting relationship with a (still undisclosed) dealer. Just as I have been in the rep game.

Gentlemen, I GOT THE POINT.

...

all I wanted is expert eyes take on QC issues that I DID NOT SPOT AND STATED IN MY OP.

You obviously didn't. And the irony is that you posted that just two posts after I even linked you to the relevant thread. Sometimes people need to pay that little more attention to what others are saying and not get immediately defensive... Anyway, case closed. You seem to get it now and I hope everything works out well with your watch. I won't close this thread so people can be reminded of RWI's position vis-a-vis QC photos. Thanks.
