Twas wondering if anybody here drinks absinthe. I normally order a couple bottles of King of Spirits Gold Absinthe (Which is the best imho). I tried the "Absente" that they sell here in the states, but the Green Fairy just doesn't live in those bottles.

It's strictly forbidden here in France, a few years back you could still find some that was made in Andorra and sold on the black market, but I guess Customs did their job because you can't anymore.

Actualyl Versinthe is a drink "made with Absinthe plants", it's not really Absinthe, which is not really a surprise since it's illegal to produce or sell Absinthe in France. :)

In fact it is... it is just because of french law.

cf this site in french :

http://www.vertdabsinthe.com/content/view/442/294/

Sometimes I use to drink Absinth from Czech distillery named Distillery at the Green Tree (original Palirna u zeleneho stromu). Distilerry declares Thujone content cca 9.6 mg/kg.

Half liter bottle of this absinth can "reset" two brains with no hangover.
If drinking absinth do not forget to drink a lot of water. If you mix absinth with beer, champagne or energetic drinks your morning will be very painfull.

Just finished a nice bottle of it. For me, it's a once in a long while type of thing.

I've had it here in the US, but I didn't know if the brands I tried were very good. Sadly, I have had many bottles of ouzo that I liked much more than the absinth I've tried.

A lot of creative minds have been known to use the green demon, Van Gogh, Munch, Hemingway, Wilde, Picasso, Strindberg, Degas, Baudelaire and Zola amongst others.

I have a bottle of Grüne Fee that I got on a trip to Austria but it is more for decoration. I tried a few mini bottles while I was there but I have yet to open this one. I'm tempted now is there a better way to drink it other than on the rocks?

Oh, yes.

o Put an ounce of absinthe in a glass
o Hold a sugar cube in a slotted spoon over the glass
o Slowly drip 4 oz. ice water over the sugar cube, dissolving the sugar and letting the sugar water mix with the absinthe. The drink will turn cloudy.
o Enjoy!

This is legit. The cold water also helps bring out some of the more subtle spices & flavors.

Absinth is a great stuff but you need to have a good people to drink with. Is not a "lonely" drinker thing. That can really fcukup your head up  or a stomach:stir:

This summer together with my friends, we had a few bottles of some Czech stuff.
In the summer house next to Slovakia border, deep in the mountain.
Quiet and relaxing. I love it:lol2:

Now is time for Chardonnay:cheers:

Cheers guys:cheers:

You should steer clear of things that give you wind. ;)
