Personal introduction, and a question

Wanted to say hi to the community. I have been a rep collector for about 10 years, and currently own about a dozen high-quality Breitling and Rolex models. I also own another dozen or so lower-quality reps which I purchased from US dealers before I learned the ropes. I have been a nominal member of RWI for several years, but until now had never spent enough time looking at the forums to recognize their value, and had incorrectly assumed that the organization was just another of the phony review sites that are run by the scam dealers out there. So nice to see that I was wrong. I will be coming back often in the future to read the reviews on watches before making any purchasing decisions.

I do have one question I am hoping someone can help me with. One of my Breitling Chronomat Evolution reps has lost two of the four screw-on Bezel pointers ( I am not sure what the correct name for them is). I have been trying unsuccessfully for years to find someplace where I can go to purchase replacements. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi and welcome! Ask any of our dealers about the missing parts. Try marvellous replicas for example. ...And they may have more of an incentive to help you if you also buy a watch from them. Let's us know how you go.

Would a scam review site post this in a thread?

Thanks everyone for your suggestions and welcomes. I just received my new Breitling today from watchshops.net, and as with the two previous watches that I bought from them about 4 years ago, it is absolutely perfect in every detail. However, as they warn in their literature, the watch is not waterproof, as I quickly learned by deliberately running tap water onto it for 30 seconds to test it. Anyone know if there some way to make it more resistant to water? I can swim with many of my other quality Rolex, Breitling, and Omega reps, and I was a little surprised that this one, so high in every other measure of quality, isn't at all waterproof.

Rep watches with He valves and/or chronos usually need to be waterproofed by one of the modders.

I never swim with mine.... ever. I had Goin seal the He valve from the inside on my DSSD with the thought that I'd swim with it, but I never have. I'm still a chicken.

I usually don't swim with my gens either, other than dive specific watches either for that matter. In my case, I only take my Deep Blue divers watch in the water.

Im not gonna swim with my reps, because there is a risk of water getting in.
Im also not gonna swim with any expensive gens, because that damn thing cost me thousands.

I will get a digital watch if im going diving, since they dont need a crown.

I wonder if there is any correlation between whether you would take your watch rep or gen in the water, and the way you drive, taste in women, investment strategy etc.

Or whether it is a habit from when you started to wear watches.

Thanks so much for the info. You guys are great. And you are right. The safest thing is not to swim with any watch, but I always do and have only had problems with two waterproof watches--one a gen Tag, and one a rep Breitling, both of which had no problems with water for many years and then failed without warning. Neither event caused any real damage as I dried them both immediately, long before any corrosion had time to set in.

or whether you wind an automatic to start it or just shake it.

I just shake it - I feel i have a hidden trauma about winding the watch in the past.
