I guess I'm old school but to call it a watch seems to be a bit of a misnomer. I think I'm like you, not really sure how I feel about it. I can appreciate the techie gadgetry imposed on the wrist, but somehow the romance of a "real" watch is missing.

Thinking about this new gizmo...this question just crossed my mind "Why do I wear a watch?"

It's certainly not to just tell the time with....I can do that with my cell phone.

I think it has more to do with the elegance of it.....even if it's a simple elegance...only appreciated by myself and those of my ilk.

First impression, the music to that stupid "watch" is incredibly irritating. I'd hate the "watch" regardless of the annoying music but the commentator? I think I would actually enjoy seeing him doused with gasoline or for those of you think that's too extreme perhaps a failed base jump. IMO it's not a "watch" at all, it's a gizmo for techno dorks, it's what you wear when you want to say "Hey! I'm not getting laid tonight." I'd rock a 80's calculator watch before I would ever consider putting that on my wrist. I'd cut off my own hands just so I could tell the salesman "sorry, no wrists." It reminds me of Dick Tracey, not the comic book, the movie with that Gollum armed nut job Madonna. It's that bad. It has no style, no life, no art and no reason other than to amuse babies because babies don't know better. As a watch enthusiast I find that soulless plastic trinket offensive for even loosely using the word watch to describe that ridiculous gadget.

so its like an ipod stuck on a watch band, maybe they could have an app to make the "watch mode" display look like an analog watch....display is too small to make it very functional....not my cup of tea

I) Not even a mere, humble iPod@wrist, but ferchristssake a wrist-iPhone...now, that's gonna work out well with this tiny touch screen. And I guess the battery will run out of power at around noon... *lol*

You ask me, this is "still born". Or to paraphrase it differently: "It's the answer to a question never asked"....for good reasons :D

II) Functionality (or better: the lack of) aside: A watch can be a piece of jewelry, a fashion item, a status symbol, something to express yourself with, something that accompanies your style etc. etc. I'm not sure how many people can see this in this "I'm watch" thingie. To each their own I guess... :)

+1 to you, Tim, and cybee. Watches do more than just tell time; you addressed it perfectly. I'm one of your 'ilk."

Another +1

I'm of the old school also and although the techie stuff will continue to come along and be picked up by the younger crowd (let's face it, it's the future), a watch to me is a personal thing that reflects the taste of the individual owner. It's why there are so many styles and variations to fit a particular "mood".

Bullseye! Regardless of taste/old school or what ever other reasons, putting it on the wrist means you can only use one hand and thats a fail!

My blackberry tells time. My iPhone tells time and has apps. My laptop tells time. Our bundy clock tells time. My watch is more of a jewelry to me. I want it to remain that way.

I imagine it will take off like wildfire, but it's not for me....

I have a watch to look good as an accessory, and a phone for everything else that that thing does (including, telling me the time for the most part, lol)

I'm expensive!

May as well buy an ipod Nano with watch strap. Not my cup of tea and as cybee said no romance.

niche product for gadget people only.

This is a product answering a question nobody asked.

Nokia did the Dick Tracy thing a while and it wasn't popular. No one wants to stand around having a conversation with their watch. Email and social network on the wrist?Tiny screen - no thanks. Music? Ipods, Zunes and Walkmans do it better. It offers no advantage over a smart phone, none.

One of those ideas best left to the drawing board.

Your MUCH better off getting this and a Bluetooth headset. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D921A7418ko&feature=youtube_gdata_player"]THE BEST iPOD NANO WATCH CASE! - YouTube[/ame]

The only value i see, MAYBe (I assume its just a Bluetooth extension of your phone) is being able to screen emails and calls while on the go and not taking the phone constantly out. The old bb hard plastic cases were the best ever for that

If you were to use it as a replace, net for carrying a smart phone - cause you want an old school phone and monitor things, then your tied to using this watch everyday.

I like the idea, but when you have an iphone or any other decent smartphone, I feel it's a little bit useless. I'd rather wear a watch that looks a little better, a rep for example. :)
