I recently got quite keen on old small vintage watches like airking, explorer 1 1016, oyster perpetual no date, tudor prince. Although my photoskills are incredibly poor I still wanted to share some pix of my 5500 with you. Hope you'll like it :)

Thanks guys :) . It definitely is small (34mm) but once you wear it for a week or so you just start loving it. The fashion hype nowadays is leaning towards huge watches that i also like very much but air kings, explorers 1016 and similar simply never fail to impress me. What actually ignited my interest in small vintage rolies was a tudor prince franken which i got from a great tudor specialist JMB last year.

A youngster colleague of mine called me out a few days ago in a full canteen : ha, ha , ha fake rolex... I just replied with a silent friendly smile :) The very same guy never noticed any of dozen reps i was wearing. That's just how much ordinary folks know about spotting reps.

GOOD FOR YOU!! (In dealing/observing the friend, who's part of the "99.999%" Also, I agree with others: the Air King & Tudor ARE elegant despite their small size. Maybe you're now part of an emerging new trend.

Need to tie that strap under your car and drive around on some poor country road, then in the washing machine. Then it'll look right on that AirKing! :p

You might be just right ThinkBachs :) I 'll try something like that and check what comes out. Have you ever tried that trick?

Why yes, yes I have! I do it to all my straps to make them look vintage.... yeah, that's the ticket.*

*Ok, maybe I haven't, but how much worse can it be than throwing a watch case in a container full of nuts and bolts? :p

Good shots of a vintage. The nato really makes the watch, IMHO. Wear it well & often.

Nice Watches

I have been looking at vintage Airking's on fleabay and the more i look the more i like em !!

Like someone said earlier i am bit worried about the size i have a gen tag 2000 that i think is 36 mm but i dont wear it these days because of the size.

Anyone know what the biggest sizes vintage rollies are ?

AFAIK vintage rolies are either 34mm or 36mm with excption of sub, sd that should be around 40mm. in the first few days of wearing it feels a little small but then it just starts to settle in and feels great :)

If you go back in time, even 34 mm at that time was considered "big".
In the 30s a normal mens watch had 30 mm or even less!

But also in the 50s and 60s there have been some 30 mm and 32 mm sized Rolex around, mostly refferred to as "boys size".
