Ho ho ho, Christmas came early for me today :) :cheer:

Recieved an new+unworn Explorer II 42mm with black dial and 21J (Asian Automatic with GMT function) movement.

Got it from a member deal at RG for my slightly modded noob sub lv.

The trading partner states this is from PWC/T4D aka Robert, just had a look at his section and yes this is from his stock. He offers for $ 129 + shipping.

Watch runs fine and all functions work (GMT, Date and time setting). Crown srews in smooth. Better than my expectations is the lume, very blue and bright: Good job here! Same with bracelet.

Biggest flaws are: Bad CG, wrong crown, and the bezel number font ("no flat fours").

I wanted this one (my first new Rolex for some time) because of the size. I really like wearing my DSSD(43mm) and have to state that the Explorer wears nearly as big as the DSSD while looking from above. What makes the watch wearable on more occasions ("dress watch") ist the far slimmer case.

All in all i am very happy with this watch and will wear this often time comming...(expecting a 176M and 186 PAM wich won´t arrive before christmas i suppose :( )

Anybody thinking of buying this watch: It´s a go from my side (Robert offers the same case/dial combo (white or black dial) with the 2836 movement if interested too. I will now do a baby oil job on the bracelet and grease caseback sealing and tube/crown sealing (I do with most of my watches).

Thanks for looking and have a nice weeked everybody!

Enough talking---on to the (quick and dirty) pics.

Congrats and Merry Christmas! Nice looking timepiece and looks to be a quality build as is quite often the case with T4D's watches, that lume is strong enough to guide you home on a dark and stormy night!

Looks great! I've fancied an Explorer II for a while now myself.

Congrats! ;)

Nice one with good lume.

Only the font of the datewheel looks imho wrong.

Btw, does the rotor sounds cheap while self-winding, so everybody can hear it's a rep?

Thanks.

Karen, I stated the flaws above alreday ;)

FYI: The rotor of a gen movement doesn´t sound much different than the rotor of a rep :)

Thanks for the review....

Quick question/comment, it seems like the GMT hand and second hand on the gen are longer than on the rep? Or is this just the angle of pics?
