Buying reps in Dubai

Hi all, another question from a newbie...

Off to Dubai in a couple of weeks and have heard its reasonably good for reps. Went there a while ago with family and remember being offered "copy watches" in the gold soukh, but as I was family at the time I didn't persue

Just wondering if there's any general tips or advice in buying reps, whether its best to follow the people who come up to you offering in markets or if there's any actual shops or stalls etc?

I know you can haggle on almost everything so also wondering what you're likely to get away with, 60%-80% on asking price etc.

I guess you will not be able to find anything better than real cheapos from the street....
Our TD-s have a much better stock, believe me

But I'm also sure you will be able to find the most amazingly BLING Rolex reps for full-time pimps

You may want to look at Karama and Diera however, the quality and choice available is not worth it.

You are better off using the TD-s here.

A lot of poverty among migrant labourers, was a big UN report on it or something a few years back. Also don't forget tourists who like to think they'll always get a bargain, such as me! opcorn:



Karesz, some of the displays of wealth I saw last time were insane, people all ages strolling round head to toe in heavily branded designer gear, no idea of it was all real or not but I'd imagine not always. You're right some of the bling people seem to like is horrible!

Dubai/Qatar/Abu Dhabi all have rep sellers but they also have great used gen watch deals. The high grade quality bags are very hot commodities, as well.

I've found that the better reps generally don't make their way to the region, unless they're on my wrist.

Yup, they're hot property - especially for unsuspecting tourists who place them on the ground for just a moment while they're waiting in a queue or similar

Crime rate in Dubai is tiny.

Read something once about there being more chance of being murdered in Europe than robbed in Dubai.

Just come back from there... with 3 half decent reps, 2 for me one for the missus. Breitling Navimeter, Rolex Datejust and a Montblanc that I'm hoping someone off here can ID as I know next to nothing about Montblanc or ladies watches in general....

Very easy to barter them down... paid under 50% the original asking price each time :lol:
