I'm thinking to franken my TW/wm9 from BK and I wonder if it is worth to spend hundreds on a gen green bezel insert.
All i know is that a gen insert's pearl is something rep ones cannot match. It has a
sapphire cover which doesn't scratch. The rep one only has an acrylic
coat which can scratch.

But how is the overall quality on a rep bezel insert? is it relly worth the money?

tnx

I don't think any of the rep inserts come close enough to the gen in color or the pearl. Of course, it's all in how bad you want it. The best deal used I could find on a gen LV insert was $379usd.

The LV insert is way expensive since Rolex doesn't produce replacement inserts, for the aniversarry models..

I've tried about 4 different aftermarket inseerts and the WM9 is by far the best and closest in color that I've found. You're much better off keeping the WM9 and maybe using a Watchmaterial pearl. But if you got it from BK, it's probably already got one.

Glad I got my gen LV insert when I did. It was about $400, and I almost choked paying it. Better to have it and make the watch look great. Gen inserts are the way to go if you can stomach the price.

Nice looking... Gen insert may sounds expensive. But since we already sunk so much money getting a WM9 sub or higher end rep. Might as well go a step further to perfect it. If not, might as well get a cheap A21J to get the job done. It's either $29 sub or a 99 percent gen like $1K Plus Franken...

I don't know about worth it, thats something only you can decide. I can't see spending that much on an insert just to put it on a rep watch, seems crazy to me.

Especially because there's always going to be another tell unless it's gen. Anyone that knows you have a WM pearl is going to know your rehaut engraving is fake, etc.

You can spend $2-300 on a good rep that's 95% gen like.. Those other 5% is where you pay dearly. That last 5% has rarely been worth it to me.

I could never talk myself into getting a gen insert for wm9 v3 LV because they are so damned expensive.

If I could get one in the $200 range I wouldn't have thought twice about it because it's really the only thing my watch was missing.

Guys, initially my thinking was like you. Thinking it's crazy to spend some gen parts on and hit the roof of $1k for a rep. But you must consider another $600- $700 are actuall gen parts which means, if you lost interested you can take it out and sold off with value of little loss a or same amount back.

After witnessing how some Franken easily sold off for a grand or more in RWI sales thread. I am convinced spendin money on gen parts to Franken it is worth it. End of the day, you can easily recoup all yr money sunk in by resale it.

Becos a Franken is not easily bought over just like some $300-$400 good rep from dealer. It maybe one of the few kind in the world which is build and choose with parts around it by you. They are highly sought after and the best part is they are very hard to be call out. Usually a Franken is build with all the bad rep parts eliminated leaving out those which rep manufacturer can replica properly or correctly retain. This means even a season gen dealer can be fool easily by your watch.

Thanks to RWI, I learn alot and now I know what I want. :)
