Which is of course lost on both of you, and get real the whole idea or reps is to fool ourselves and others, if not no one would by them, duh. Its about the idea of having watches you wouldn't otherwise buy. Perhaps you buy a few gens, but most won't buy a full collection of Rolex watches because of the cost, so being able to by reps replaces that need and want to own every gen they want. If it wasn't about fooling others no one would give a shit about the tells, think about it.

Agree with you sub..Also other members have good points..We are in the same conversations over and over i think..Anyway to fool others it is easy lol..
Also some gen owners and guys with knowledge..In real life, a really close inspection will tell the truth IMO..A gentleman will never do it also..So to fool other is easy..Then the chase of super franken rep is a state of mind game and has to do with us..Hard for others to tell a gen insert from a good epoxied one..WE all are playing the clever one, in photos...But in real life when the other is moving his wrist makes our time really hard lol..

Forgive me for being misunderstood...I'm not the least bit concerned about what you think, nor am I trying to pursuade you regarding anything. You're stepping up and saying "we don't want the OP to go around thinking he has a gen looking rep". My point is..he "does" have a gen looking rep. You're stepping up and commenting on building reps as a means of "fooling people". I'm saying my Frankens aren't about trying to fool anyone...they're merely what I happen to like...for my pleasure, pride and personal satisfaction. Your very educated comments on this and that lead me to believe you're an expert so I'm asking for the personal preferrence of an expert..... what Sub reps do "you" prefer,,,which ones do you own,,,and which reps do you deem worthy of purchase and favor the most. That's it. We're in this together and I'd enjoy hearing your favorites and why. Please do tell, sir.

Look, years ago I would buy and tell others a MBW or TW best are probably the best choices, if your looking for a to build model, but understand no matter the quality, the price you paid, or the value we percieve that rep to have in reality its all a illusion. Putting the very best ETA movement into a rep China build case, with gen parts does not give you a gen watch, it gives you a fake watch that you overpaid for. Guys will search for years to find what they think is the best rep, and guess what?? There is No best rep, until you can grasp that reality you will never really understand this hobby.

Your the guy who owned a gen, but of course no longer do and now your the expert on reps. The last links are tilted outwards due to the size of the wearers wrist.
Picture is over exposed so we cannot even see what the pearl looks like but having a WM9 I can say it isn?t all that bad.
SEL's: They look about as well placed and ?tight? as on my gen.
Dial markers aren?t fat nor are the hands...
Crown guards? Can't see them clearly!

I have no idea to numbers but I'm gonna speak about yours a bit.

As a number of people have pointed out--the pic you're talking about is so overexposed you can't even SEE the pearl or marker surrounds.

The BK TW is enroute as we speak. But prior to it's arrival I can say that the BK WM9 V2 16610T was by far the best Franken 16610 I've had yet. Better than the v1 and much better than the v3..IMHO.) The glory of it is that I still know where to find a BK WM9 v2 with gen crown for a fair price...but I'm confident the TW wil fill the need for me. Enjoy the V2 Glenn. I'm getting anxious for the arrival of the TW.
BK installed a gen insert for me (Flat 4..my preferrence) and I will pop in the gen crystal, crown, tube and clasp. Long Live the Franken BK Submariners.

I had considered doing the Black/Gold TT with it but changed my mind and BK sent the non-engraved rehaut version.( I'd prefer the engraving on a TT.) And I now wish I'd asked DarthAlex to remove the rehaut engraving on the BK Exp.II when he had the guts out doing the superlume job and installing the DW overlay. While it's unlikely many would notice it's not correctly aligned, "I" know it and that's enough. So I'll be pulling it down and doing it soon.
giobo...I'll post pics of the pair of Frankens when the TW is finished...but man, I'm not the skilled photographer like many members here are.

and tell me how wide the surrounds are. They're just overexposed white blobs.

Same deal with the pearl. You can almost see how wide the lume area is, but you can't tell anything about the reflectiveness or transparency of the covering.

You might be talking about WM9 v2 dials in general, and that's fine. But you can't see the things that you claim to be able to see in this pic.

Lively conversation makes an interesting thread. My take on the many points of view that have been articulated are: Does the buyer/customer feel that the price paid for a gen, franken, BK, or rep is worth it? If he can say "yes", then really that is all that matters. In the end, opinions are like @ssholes ..... everybody has one. I prefer to keep within my price range of $100.00 to $350.00 in the rep world, but understand many of us are willing to pay more. If that is your thing, more power to you, and enjoy your collection!

Listen, I'm not looking to argue with anyone about this guys watch, its his watch, I pointed out what I see. I can agree the pic isn't good but who cares really?? Its his watch, if he likes it then good for him. The later added smaller pic does clear up a few things also.
