I have a BK Sub-C and I must agree with some observations here that the markers are NOT spot-on. In fact, I am bothered greatly by how thick the rings are for the round ones and how thin the ones are for the 6, 9, and 12 markers. Furthermore, the lume material bulges and it is not flat. Oh well, it IS a rep. A mighty fine one, but not perfect.

I agree also that the bracelet does have sharp edges! nail file/ sandpaper to the rescue!

Oh, and be careful about the pearl. Mine snagged somewhere and fell off. Have a replacement from BK in transit now.

Great pics and review!

Its removed with nail polish remover. I believe Gio had a tread on how to remove and the type of paint used to do the mod.

Here's a link. http://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/...epsea-dssd-37419?t=37419&highlight=Paint+DSSD

Did the mod! Now i like it even more!!!! The bracelet still sucks though. With patience and more time I'll try and sand the edges and will report back!...
About the dial markers, I disagree...If they are all the same size, I don't believe they would be an immediate tell, unless you find someone specifically looking for that detail...

Thank you for the honest and true review. I'm new to this hobby and have spent the last 2 months of spare time researching versions, tells, dealers, movements, lume, mods, etc. And all that was just for the DSSD! LOL!

In the end I took a gamble with the dealer I chose in order to save a few dollars. In the end I received an exceptional rep...I also got lucky! Bezel, dial indicators, movement, renaut alignment are all very nice by quality rep standards. Had there been a problem I'm sure I could have had it resolved as my dealer is a respected TD. However, shipping back, waiting weeks on end, etc., would have been miserable.

Going with a guy like BK, in my mind first and foremost provides peace of mind. Peace of mind in that you're 99% sure to get it right the first time with a few nice mods/pre-sale prep tossed in. If there is an off chance something is wrong, the issue will be resolved quickly and efficiently. If that kind of peace of mind and service is important to you enough to spend (up to) two bills more on a rep then absolutely it is worth it.

For me rep #2 is on the way. Pam111M from noob. After seeing Angus's PAM tear-down comparison I couldn't resist. It's honest quality reviews that keep us knowing and keeps noobs like me from pulling our hair out! Thanks guys!

O'yea, and to the OP on the bracelet. After wearing a gen Omega SMP daily for 10 years I thought it was time for a change. I started the process of justification for a gen Sub. A few friends have gens and I asked if I could try them on. The very first thing I noticed was how light/cheap the bracelet felt compared to my SMP. One of them even mentioned to me that fact also (he also owns a gen SMP).

It's really the nature of different designs IMO. After wearing my rep DSSD for a couple of weeks I find it to be exceptionally comfortable...More so, dare I say, than my gen SMP. I find the lightweight bracelet keeps the head balanced very well.

Thanks for your your honest review.
I think more posters should do the same as we have no idea how close to the actual photos we get from each TD.

I will be doing my honest review when my new order comes in.

Since the other day I have done the following improvements to my DSSD:
1. I pressed all the links with my rubber covered big pliers (you still see thru some of them but a big improvement).
2. Cleaned all the bleeding with nail polish REMOVER ;) turned out GREAT! (I am actually planning to do the white enamel mod soon)
3. Re-polished all the sides of the bracelet with a dremel and polishing paste (now they really shine)
4. Sanded all the rough edges with my dremel and a 400 grit paper (better but still feels a little rough)
5. Did a polish pass thru all the bracelet with high speed dremel and polishing paste (it is much brighter now and you still see the brushed finish...on most pictures of the gen, the bracelet has a subtle shine that the BK lacked, I think I still can do one more pass to even it out more).
6. Oiled the whole bracelet..let it soak for 2 hours
7. Brushed the whole watch with a toothbrush and white mint toothpaste (a trick I learned, it is a little bit abrasive and really makes the stainless shine...in the process I also proved the watch IS waterproof)...

BIG improvement!!!!!
I can use the watch with the bracelet now and I think I can actually like it with it! Once more this proves that there is always improvement to be done on every rep. sorry for the cellphone pics...

Okay people! I did the enamel paint mod! I applied 3 layers....2 of flat white and one of insignia white (a little bit glossier). This mod is a MUST for any DSSD owner. It's really easy to do and it transforms the watch!!!! it gives it dimension on the bezel muuuuuuuuuuuuuuch better. The difference is subtle and really difficult to capture on camera but trust me, you want this...

Wow! you are on fire! :jaw:

Mods look great, I definitely will be doing these when I get a DSSD.

Just wondering if your avatar is a PAM 253? Gen? Rep?

Mi avatar is a cheap 21j fantasy Pam. It was the first rep I got and i actually got ripped off (they sold it to me as a high end rep) and is a reminder of what not to do (in terms of being careful on the dark side... This happened before I found the forums)...! Still it's a great looking watch :) and It's dear to me because it was my first rep...(I tried to sell it with no quorum so I am keeping it as a charm)...

Oh, sorry to hear you got ripped off. I've just ordered a 253 from a trusted seller so I will see how it goes.
It is a great looking watch though.

That's a great looking DSSD. Good job on the touch ups!

If you're anything like me, you'll end up liking it better now that you put a little of your own work into in than if had arrived that way!

Now some advice needed here...I've seen the Angus's V7 DSSD and the dial is better because the rings on the markers are thinner but the BK case (IMHO) is way better...do you guys think it would be worth it to swap the dial for a V7??? How's the Lume compared to this one? Any experts see any more differences???

The fact BK put so much effort on datewheel does not justify it's price.

I guess he offers more in the form of customer service, etc.

But agree it comes at a price. The same watch costs $287 from Timesshop and $420 from BK.

I'm the luck owner of one of this now and I want to make it perfect!
So i'm thinking about doing the following:
relume,
pearl,
matte dial,
underside AR
enamel the bezel insert

So who is the best guy for this job: Pbdad in the US or Goin in Taiwan?
I'm reading good reviews about both but there must be a winner here :)

Be carefully with AR on this one... I've recently read a review and the glass has NO AR whatsoever...
