I don't need perfection, because it seems there is a huge premium attached to it. I can live with 95-97% perfection hehe. Does anyone sell a good rolex that's of good VALUE for the price? At what point do prices start increasing but the minute errors become not worth the money to upgrade?

Must be a high beat movement, but I dont really care if its a real swiss or not.

Thanks!

man; most of what you wrote is a personal taste question. numbers are sort of meaningless. i would say any clone noob sub would fit your criteria. trevor has this for 120

no matter how much you spend the CG's are always off on the old sub's. the sub-c's have their own set of problems. i bought a 21j special sub-c and i like it. will likely go for a lv of some sort soon. timeshops has a good price on the noob clone as well.

I love that green bezel sub, what else aside from the crown guard stands out? Would that have a high beat/fast second hand? I had another sub similar to this, but the beat just wasn't as fast as some others. I had a SOSF with a swiss eta and it was much much faster.

Some models seem to have thinner numbers on the bezel. When I google it I see it both skinny and large. Hrm..

CG's, pearl, the color of the green for people who really knew the model. lume. i would imagine the fit and finish varies, you may get one that is not up to "swiss standards". but for your price bracket you never will. that's ok. you will never find a watch for under 2bills that can successfully masquerade as a $7k watch. to those "in the know"

darth alex makes some really, unbelievably, sick, nasty and beautiful subs. but for under 2 bills. nope. i'm not sure if he sells them at all. you would have to ask him.

check out his stuff if you have not already. you know; i wore a gen sub as a beater for 8years more or less. the first question people asked was "is that fake?" the second was "is that real?". none of them knew watches. who you are and how you handle yourself (age as well sadly...) is more important for believability in my experience. if you don't have an opinion on the currency market or a call on asian equities people are not likely to believe that your patek is real ;)

I had a gen breitling colt ii for a few years, but no one knew what it was.

What if I upped my budget to $300?

what do you want? even a bk tw best has "flaws"

my boss had a ticking sub and no-one ever asked a thing. my friend was here last year (i live in the middle of nowhere) and i put my massively flawed sub-c next to my gen beater sub and he said "why would anyone pay 7k for a rolex". most people don't know. the people who know; you have to go to extensive lengths to trick, if that is your goal. not that i mean to imply that is your intention.

try out a cheaper one and see what you think. that would be my advise. at 3bills there will still be issues. you could ask rsh for a quote. i don't know what he wants for a modded sub. but he does nice work.

but what i am trying to say is that people buy the wearer before the watch. belief is a powerful thing.

I agree with you about the person making more of a statement then the watch. I am 30 and dress in t-shirts and jeans every day - putting a polo on is dressing up. If an event requires a button down shirt, or god forbid a tie, I simply refuse to go. :) However, my business accomplishments do support the reality of a fine swiss watch, so it likely wouldn't be questioned.

I brought my Avenger Skyland v3 (with those flawed lume dots) to the breitling dealer to remove links, and they were shocked when I told them it was a replica.

As far as what I want.. I'd like the next step up from the Noob/21J/$125 price range subs and dssd's, and for it to have a movement that my local watchmaker feels comfortable servicing. (a few said no to asian movements)

No one cares about the watch I'm wearing, and even if they did the law is unenforceable on a small scale and would be thrown out of court.

EDIT: I've already been sued over trademark infringement by the WIPO in geneva. If I can win that case I'm sure I can manage with a wristwatch lol.
