Hi all. Just got my first PAM - PAM111 M 1:1 Ultimate Edition.

How long should the power reserve last? I seem to have to wind it twice a day (24 hours). Is that to be expected.

Thanks,

Alan

That's not right, you should get 30+ hours out of one wind.

Are you winding it until it stops?.

Maybe I'm not. Maybe I'm being too gentle.

I won't damage it??

Just be carefull
You will note when have you arrived to the end with a light resistence. then stop winding!!
Yo must have about +30 hours of power reserve.
If you have not this reserve. consult to your dealer to return it

6497/6498 movements are designed for about 45-50 hours of reserve (I've heard of some reaching 52!) so, as above, something is not right.

Basically you can wind it till it will wind no more - I believe the mainsprings are incredibly strong and difficult to break so do not worry about over-winding it, I don't think it's possible unless you are a completely heavy-handed oaf!

Don't be scared, the 6497/6498 movements are pretty much bulletproof :)

When I got my first PAM replica, I was so worried about over-winding it and breaking it. I stopped around the halfway mark not really knowing how far to go.

You need to keep winding until it doesn't wind any more. It is a significant amount of resistance and you will know for sure when you hit it.

Basically, keep winding until it stops letting you wind...

I wind it about 30 times and it lasts thru the day (about 30 hours). I never reach the end of the winding...

It does seem that one wind / 'roll of the fingers' = one hour as I get 40-something turns and 40+ hours :)
