I got mine from Andrew. He's always an excellent choice.
But not a TD on this forum, so no support from the Mods here if the deal goes bad.

IWC3717s come up for sale in the Member Sales section quite often - you might just want to keep your eyes open. The A7750 movement has a dodgy history, so getting one from another member who can verify that it is still running after a month is a very good option IMO.

Other than that, I think most dealers sell the same 3717 - I haven't heard of multiple factories and multiple models of this watch to the best of my recollection.

With that being said, you are suggesting that what Lay has to offer is the same as Puretime ? cos, Lay is selling it at almost $100 less than puretime, but i wouldn wanna settle for something less.. so need advice on this. Im from Malaysia, so i find that buying from the marketplace is abit of a hassle for me

Sometimes I get worried if the price difference is huge, because if everyone is selling $250+ why would someone take $100 loss. In any case I would ask to make sure it is v3 and get qc pics.

A lot of time I'll pay a bit more to make sure I am getting the best watch and the best support.

I buy watches from Lay frequently. Lay has one of the best QC processes I know of. If you have seen a video of a watch on an analyzer and PacMan music in playing on the background, this is Lay. He is also very good to work with if you have QC problems ... no sob story about how he is loosing money, he gets you another watch, with an updated ID sticker. Lay also seems to know what we are looking for, and has a good eye for defects.

One time I was looking for a Breitling Chrono Avenger Titanium. I asked 4 dealers to source this watch for me. 2 dealers refused to sell this watch because they said the quality was so bad. Lay was one, Andrew was the other. I find this respectable, that his character/business ethic cost him some money.

Along with providing IWC parts, I modify watches. If my client wants to buy the watch, I recommend Lay or Tony. I have good reports from those who have done business with these.

I have no reservation about buying the 3717 from Lay. They do come from the same factory, and yes, they are the same quality. I have had customers buy these 3717's and not modify, and no complalints.

The only drawback with Lay is his English. It is infinitely better than my Mandrin, but there have been a couple of times I have had to rephrase something before he understood. This is something I am glad to work around given the level of service he provides.

Again, I receive nothing from Lay for my referrals, except great service. This is not to take anything away from Andrew. I would not have reservations about buying from Lay.

So to my final question, The page at Replicamake (Lay) says "Light AR Coated", and the page at puretime says "Double AR Coated", is this some marketing words which in actual fact, both are the same, or are they actually different? well, price is almost $100 different. so still a lil confused.

Also, do i have to pay first to get a QC pic, or i could request for a QC pic/video before i decide to make the payment?

trandy, you make a good point. It seems like Lay's (replicamake88.com) packages arrive faster. Once I get an EMS #, they appear to arrive in days. I am not sure if he pays extra for this, but I have had other packages sit at the port for weeks before they are shipped.

I've also bought a 3717 and Spitfire from Lay and very happy with both, the whole transaction was easy and the QC is great. My first 3717 I questioned something on the QC and he immediatly posted another up on the QC page, no questions, this one was great. Delivery was also quick and he even delayed delivery for a couple of days when I asked because I didn't think I would be around when it was delivered.
I haven't bought anything from Puretime yet but am sure I will soon!

Randy,
I am glad that you are asking alot of questions here. Hopefully we can get you through some of these before you give a dealer an earful. ;-)

Both statements are correct. The IWC saphire has a light, bluish AR, on both sides. Both are describing the same watch.

You will need to send your payment in full, then the dealer will buy your watch, take pictures (and video in Lay's case), and you have 24 hours to decide. Look it over carefully. If you approve, contact them, say thanks for your hard work, and please send it. It is YOUR responsibility to contact them within 24 hours! If you find something that you cannot live with, and please be realistic, let them know and they should find a better one. A good example of this is a watch that I ordered was supposed to have a white date wheel with black numbers. This one had black with white numbers. The factory did not have a white with black, as per the gen, and they were not going to correct this mistake. I chose another watch instead. But if you are looking for a perfectly aligned '0' on a Spitfire, forget it, they are all crooked! This would not be a valid reason to reject a watch. Look closely at the pictures on their website. If you can live with one like this place the order. The one in the QC pictures should be very close. If you have questions, post the QC pictures and know that some people will never be pleased. We will tell you if something is really wrong ... but look at it yourself first.

After you approve, the dealer may send you an EMS # in a day or 2. Relax and wait for your watch to arrive. It will take longer than you want! Relax and wait for it to arrive.

Know that you are going to another country to buy this, and you need to abide by their customs. Being a high-maintenance 'Westerner' does not play well in China. You are a guest in the dealer's country, be thankful he is willing to do this for you! Treat him as if you would a waiter that is going back in the kitchen to get your meal. If you are high maintenance, a dealer might not be willing to work hard to resolve a problem, if one were to happen. A good relationship with a dealer is a great thing to have.

Good luck,
Mike

Duly noted on that. I have placed my orders with Lay since most of the replies here are good comments bout him. In fact i ordered two watches, the 3717 and a BR02-94 :)

Waiting for QC pics and will post them here soon

"Everyone" has been talking about ghosts and aliens, too.
Please be specific.
The community does not benefit from rumors and unsubstantiated complaints.

I received watches from Lay today . Great service, express shipping, often the best prices.
Of the people I have referred, I have had good comments and no complaints.

On the other hand, there are approved dealers how know nothing about watches, fill their site with cheap looking fantasy pieces, and are extremely difficult to deal with if there is a problem. PM me and I will be happy to share these names.

If someone asks, I usually list 4 dealers, buying from 2 regularly. I get the best service from Lay.

I ordered this watch from Lay as well today. She/he seems to be responsive both by email as via the livechat.

I hope for the best, never had any issues with RM
