Thanks for your additional feedback/analysis mbjoer. I guess everyone has different degrees of tolerance for certain details. For me the day-night thing isn't a big deal, whereas a quartz Rolex would drive me insane  I think you may be overstating the familiarity of ordinary people with the workings of a moonphase dial.

What fantasy Patek's do you consider good? I've looked at a few but not found any particularly satisfactory other than possibly http://www.replicamake88.com/produc...O-WORKING-CALENDER-MOONPHASE-HAND-WINDER.html or http://www.replicamake88.com/produc...ORKING-CALENDER-MOONPHASE-RG-HAND-WINDER.html

The latter is rose gold, so I'm not entirely thread hijacking ;)

It is not just the moonphase. It is the total package.
If you pretend to have a watch worth 100k+ that better be seriously good. Fantastic detailing, and certainly functioning dials.
You just cannot get that for little money, and possibly not at all. It is the sum of the details that give cheap reps away. The depth of engravings, the thickness of the date font, the crispness of edges, etc. Certainly non-functioning dials.
And relative to a PP the one we discuss is VERY cheap. Hence my comparison to quartz Rollie.

With PP reps I would not even contemplate complications. There is no way that they can be repped in a decent manner.
Stay simple. At most go for Chrono functions.

Here is one fantasy which I think is kind of all-right. Not a super rep, but fairly plausible:

I was sceptical about the tire strap on my Chopard and was going to get a brown strap but actually it looks pretty awesome and I won't change it. I think the UN Blue/black surf and AP ROO look better with RG, but the Concord C1 actually looked better in the white when I handled both gens.

two beautiful patteks there i love the classic designs, i bought one to add to my and my fathers collection , whick includes one original pattek, this is the closest i could find to it on the net, mine although has a black dial with an unusual crackle effect and rose gold numerals and hand hands its a brilliant watch for 55 euros well worth it, went out with it the other night and to my amazement when it rolled over to 12 am august 1st all dials worked the month ticked over as did the 24 hours and day of week truly brilliant

so in summary its the ideal watch for me elegant in its design beautifully made and fully functional, for a replica its a good job and no i have never seen a pattek with a crackle effect black dial, i shall upload piccies when new camera is in order.

Relaxman,

Sorry, for getting back so late here...

This I got from a fellow member. I'm not sure where he got it but I could ask. It's the Tourneu version of the Big Pilot. I think they only made 50 of the real ones so it's not too plausible but I still like it! The rotor is a little loud on it...like the loudest of all my watches but it's cool. I get a lot of compliments and looks at it...but it is quite big...

Thanks, let me know if you want more info!

I agree with optical untill you have seen the brown "a+" IWC rep in person you can't even begin to feal it's beauty, and I hate leather and rubber staps but it is probably my most commonly worn watch.
