My kid is 6' and, this is not a typo, weighs 129 pounds.

The track coach invited him to join their squad.

They need a javelin.

i used to rock a .45 glock (in the states) but now it's a 10" knife (not folding). we eat with them here. really handy if you need to do a bit of butchering as well. i never thought i would like cutting up animals as much as i do. nothing like a woodfire and some fresh meat ;) oh yea a big watch too; here is a pam and a bunch of dairy cows from over the weekend.

Well maybe with the new Bond book reference to a smaller 34mm watch the trend will reverse. Nah.
Big watches are the style right now. Period.
I guess if you are going to wear a watch - also trend coming back, you had better go big or go home.
Me? Big Pams just make my wrist look small, which it is. Smaller Pams are hard to find in reps.

I usually find that the Geritol crowd is the one that seems to be bothered by anthing over 38mm. Must be a geezer thing.

Geritol Hell - it's da Jaeger

I'd really like to have a wristwatch with da bigger case so I could insert da 16 size pocket watch movement in it. Nothing more irrating to stiff than the half empty glass or case.

sm iiH!

I personally find mens watches smaller than 42 to be puny! Wearing one would make me feel silly. A lot of fashionable women these days wear watches that size. Styles and tastes generally change over time, currently large watches are cool. I wouldn't dare call this a trend, as I've heard it referred to before. I really like big watches, not because they are popular or any other reason, but because I feel most comfortable with them. I don't foresee my taste changing any time soon ;)

I'm 28, very stylish and casual. You will hardly ever find me in a suit. I lift weights, drive a large blue SUV with 22" rims, and bartend in a club. These larger watches fit my style and personality. I would never expect to find a U-boat or other large watch on a conservatively dressed, middle aged man.

My point is that personal style and attitude are more of what dictate watch size, not trends.

Personally, I'm 6'1" 215lbs 7.5" wrist. I don't feel like I can wear anything smaller than 44mm, so I appreciate the larger faces. I wish there were MORE watches in the 47mm size range.

I think we are twins seperated at birth. ;)

To quote G. B. Shaw here, "Youth is wasted on the young." ;)

Any wristwatch that costs more than $25 is either a piece of jewelry or a tool of some sort (Mudman, functioning wrist computer like a Pathfinder, etc.) IMHO.

As such we are largely in the realm of fashion here at RWI, are we not? Even my tool watches are distinctive in some manner.

I don't need to get lucky so to speak, so my watches are subtle yet deliberate in their style. A bling free zone, my watch box is. I think many of us geezers would say something like that. Or not. And that's fine, too. It's a personal thing, jewelry.

I have never confused fashion with style. Two different dynamics; you can have one without the other.

Just my $0.02 USD as always.

From a comfort stand point, 43mm is plenty big for me. As for looks, 47mm is impressive on some models, but I don't like the crown digging into the top of my hand and excess weight. But in the end, to each his/her own .. .....

but I don't like ... excess weight.

THIS:

But in the end, to each his/her own.

Couldn't be a more truthful statement.

I *LIKE* the weight. I want to feel like I have something on my wrist. My friends prefer lightweight stuff but it's just one of the ways we're all different. :)

Here's a quick bathroom-mirror wrist-shot of my fiddy; you can see a 35mm watch would be comical.

(Yes, I also have unusually large hands. Testing during a recent trip to the Physical Therapist placed me in the 99th percentile on grip strength, FWIW.) o_O

I posted about a trip to the AD long ago and how foolish I thought big watches were. I remember posting that the DsSD looked like a chunk of machined metal on the wrist.

Since then I have owned...........ALOT of watches. My DSSD is the smallest left in my collection.

Big watches wear and feel better on the wrist. A 44mm Pam is just about perfect but I still love the feel and more importantly the look of a 47mm.
