Lower insurance value decreases the cost of shipping and the Customs duties.

So, yeah, I would wait for the carrier and let him know he put a 3500 watch on top of the mailbox. I bet you would get your box delivered to your door next time.

Yeah it is a gen, I only paid $1000 for it, so thats all he insured it for, but it is quite expensive over here.

I went down to the post office today, and talked to them, but the lady was too nice to be mad at. Still I said I was very upset and she agreed something should be said, so she called up the HQ and explained the situation, and that the post man involved might have to write me an apology, that would be nice :)

Scammimg the post office in the US is a federal offense, not sure in Australia though.

sounds like you did the right thing Josh. Scamming the post office may sound easier said than done... (we must have a lot of anger built up over the years of collecting watches and waiting for shipments to feel the need to get the post office back ;) )

Glad you got your watch safe though, that would've sucked! Post a picture!

We had a similar thing with a opal ring was worth about $2500 Jeweller rang up and I said we had not recieved it.
He was a bit worried as it was sent the most expensive way and should have been there and was to be signed for.
I went to the front door and the postman had left it on the doorstep .
Thought aboutsaying iot didnt arrive thing but didnt do it happy to have recieved the item lucky we live at the end of a quite court and have good neighbours at the moment.

An apology letter??? Well THAT will teach him!!

Which will be left on top of the mailbox for posterity sake. :)

Nice watch, glad you got it safe and sound. Also glad you did the honest thing, good karma should be coming your way.
