Is there any good guide regarding this problem? I have searched and never really found a good explanation of what it is. Better yet pictures of what the problem is.

I know that it has something to do with missing jewels which put more strain on the movement, but I don't know exactly where? So if you know a please help or if you got a good resource post your link to the info.

For reference you can use this link has the pictures of the 7750 secs at 6 breakdown.

Transfer gears are a problem

You can see here the new gear on the running seconds, this will mate to 5 more gears before the seconds can be displayed at 6 - can you say loading down the movement remember this is a constant load, as long as the watch runs, this load is applied to the basic movement.

1 is the cannon gear, 2 is the new gear for the transfer of running seconds (this is the shaft at the 9 sub-dial position on the movement, the 2nd wheel which is running seconds), and 3 is the minute wheel, 4 is the hour wheel what the hour hand goes onto

Got a watchsmith buddy here in MN. Well 2 including Katt. ( Hi Katt :) ) Anyhoo, he says no way he will service that movement.

Others will do it but it is expensive. I have heard of others had luck and others go kaput.

SMas, I saw your other post. If your watch guru can repair these on a regular basis and get the spare parts needed to do it, then good for him. Ask 14060 or 16610 if he wouldn't mind sharing info with your guy, Smas. Maybe another star will be borne. ;)

I think that soon I will show you why that movement has so many problems. We were thinking it was due to lack of jewels, friction and so on...

The main reason is the same as AP seconds @12... a bad assembling... and can be improved...

A forum member is sending to me 2 daytonas with strong problems. If you remember, i found why APs were failuring when a member sent me to APs... so let's be optimistic.

regards,

Francisco

So how long now since your secs @ 6 movements been running? Your review was back in 08 so are they still running till now without another overhaul/servicing?

an AP that has been well assembled can run for a long time.

At least this is true for APs. What i want to check now, although I am quite sure, it is that for seconds at 6 it is the same issue.

Would be great if you could examine the movement again. It just comes up so often.

Lately I have read (second hand) that G has found a newer version of it with more jewels. One which apparently has solved the problems.

Also there are a number of recommended treatments for the version which do not work.

It would be great if you could find out about the latest versions of the movement and also give your opinion on the treatments (NANO-tech, Graphite, other??).

I need a couple or 3 weeks...

That sounds promising.
It would be good if you do discover improvements in the movement, but the main thing is to get factual information about the movement (s ??) and treatments.

I shall await your next thread on the topic.

I think you have had more than a few weeks, so how did things go? Sorry for dragging up an old thread, but its relevant, as I am looking into alternative movements that can be used.

I see that the new improved 29J movements are supposed to be more reliable, but still researching to death on these.

I know all the risks regarding sec@6, and this was the case back in 2005/6 too when I first got into reps, but with the new 29J improvements, I wish to look into this movement in more detail, and if possible, even try and find a substitute for one :)
