Are you CONUS? If I were going to cover the repair myself, I would send it to 14060 or 16610? or Katt.

In EUR I think Domi would be my choice.

They are both in the trusted watchsmith section and have their own subforums.

What movement did your DSSD have?

Ouch! That's probably why it was DOA.

Wait to hear from the dealer and see what they say. Sending it back will cost @$35 and take many months.

Often fixing it here is better, as the movement can be repaired, serviced, and regulated all at the same time. The dealer will just do a quick fix or swap in another unserviced movement

But doing it here is going to cost much more than $35 to do all that. And thats assuming the movement is fixable.

It's always a crap-shoot.

Katt has a section here, and his email is [email protected] . I know 144060 does good work, but he is on a 4-6 week backup. I've never sent anything to Katt and not gotten it back with a week, shipping included.

His prices are reasonable as well. It'll prob cost a few bucks more than shipping it back, but it will be done much faster and better. Trust me, don't send it back to china if you can avoid it.

just my .02, and assuming you are conus...

The guys are right. Avoid mailing back to China if at all possible. Tell the dealer you will get it repaired yourself and MAYBE he'll give you a small discount on your next purchase. Maybe...

Yeah that's a bummer! Hope all works well with the outcome. I would probably stay away from sending anything to China at all costs. Maybe he can do something for you on next purchase as stated above. GL!

Wear the watch for a few hours normally. see if it charges like that. Since it takes soooo long to get a watch from China, often times they are not charged. I like my movements shipped with the hack on, but not everyone does it. Did it start working? I ask because I was going to order one of those V3 ones from PTW for an Abyss project I have.

The watch will start working when when you shake it. If not big trouble. Usually puretime has one of the better QC since they invest in the watch testing machine.

Unless it looks like this,

Smashedwatch.jpg

I'd keep it stateside and have a pro work with it. Not only does it get fixed, but it gets a good going through plus properly sealed and probably pressure tested if you ask. The money spent on shipping is much better invested in finishing what the factory started.

I sent it to Katt for servicing since I could not get it to work. Katt is amazing. He serviced it and shipped it out in less then 24 hours. Now I'm just waiting for it to arrive.

Ps. I have ordered 5 watches from PTW. My luck has been very spotty at best. 1 was DOA and 1 watch looked nothing like the photo on line. I had ordered a pepsi gmt and received a GMT(ceramic) Pepsi, which rolex doesn't make. PWT has issued $25 credits for each mistake, but when it cost me $70 to get serviced and getting a watch that I did not want, it's not that great.

Thnx again for all the help.
