Ordered the noobmariner from TS on the 10th, came in today (used the $10 shipping). Startled to see the quality! Has the 21J which is a tad noticeable, but will work fine for my purposes.

I wanted to get my feet wet with this one, see if it arrived at all and what the quality was for what's probably the best rep deal on the 'net. Now I gotta save up for another, maybe Explorer or GMT, probably with the ETA clone

We'll see whether it keeps time. Hope so!

Here's a question: on my Seiko automatics, I can give 'em a couple twirls in my hand in the morning and they start up and go all day. Like literally 2-3 twirls, strap em on, and they're good to go. I tried that with this one and it stopped after just a minute. So I wound it and it's going fine. Is this one I'd rather not wind? Should I swing it for a minute to get it started? Is it a one-way only cam, maybe I twirled it in the wrong direction.

I'll post some pics when I get my decent camera out of storage. Very nice. The rehaut crown shape is a hair to the right, nothing noticeable, the pearl is properly aligned. Rehaut engraving is hardly visible anyway--in all the pics it stands out but in real life you can hardly see it.

Bracelet is fine, I remeasured my wrist and, after losing about 10 lbs in the past 3 months it's now just under 6.5" LOL! So I had to remove 3 links. 40mm is ginormous on me, I can never go bigger with my small frame.

Just noticed something weird. The seconds hand.. between 15 and about 25 seconds it "falls behind" by about a full second so that when it hits 30 it's a full second behind, then it "catches up" between 45 and 55 so that when it's back up at 00 it's on time. Does this every time. Very strange.

21J is a workhorse, give it 10-20 winds and you should be good. It is hard to damage that movement.

Not so sure on that Naylor, all my 21J have died within a few weeks :(
My DSSD has just broken for the second time, and it also displayed that sort of behaviour with the second had before doing so.

Dont want to make you worry Wuggy, I might have had bad luck, as a lot of people have no problems with the 21J.

However the noobmariner it self is a great watch! And well worth the money.
I went for the $108 version to avoid the 21J :)

The second hand is normal for this design. Ofrei has replacement movements for about $19.00. I prefer the asian 2836 model myself. It is great.

Hey, Wuggy!

Congrats on a real bargain. I have one, too, and it's fine & keeps time like a champ. Perhaps it does have a one way rotor (I thought they all did); as a matter of practice, before I wear any of my mechanicals, I give them a good 30 - 50 manual winds to get them going, as I noticed if I just gave them a few twirls, they'd run for a minute, then stop.

I'm pleased with mine & shared pics of it a while ago on EyeCandy.

I have 2 $130.00 ceramic models. I LOVE them. The 21J cases and dials are good, but I would go for the $108 models with the asian 2836 if you wanted the non-ceramic model.

I am seeing patients with my $130 watch now. I wont' mind if I get it stolen going to or from my car. No one with their real Rolexs can tell when I wear a rep.

I don't really wear my expensive watches now. I play building and modding my reps.

clone-ETA is going to be a better option, they are serviceable and replaceable- forever. don't build a collection on 21j unless you want a bunch of paper weights in 6mo time.

You can wind it slowly 3-5 turns to put some reserve in it before you wear it. The 21j winding rotor only works unidirectional.

Thanks. Yeah in the future I will probably get the non-21J, I just wanted to make sure that if it was a total bust I'd be out only a small amount of money. Plus if I decide to replace it with a higher version I can sell it here and only take a loss of $10-20. So I'd recommend it to people who aren't sure if they want to try out a rep or not (I had a rep years ago but it was so bad I don't even count it ;)).

Plus it's good for TS, I'll probably stick with them in the future because I know they come through with good stuff.

Oh shiz.. I liked this one so much I just purchased the $108 version with the upgraded movement! I think I'll either sell this one or, better yet, throw this on a black Nato strap and keep the other on the bracelet. I was gonna get a two-tone or full gold but this is plenty blingy I think.

Good move!
The $108 version is just as good but with a better movement and nicer second hand sweep.
For that price it's a real winner.

Good idea testing the waters. 21j's can be a lot of fun for little $$$. Glad to see you got yourself a proper version on the way now, too. :)
