I wouldn't be surprised if there was something to this story other than total gen propaganda. Apparently radioactive steel has become a problem in many areas of the world, China just being one of them. Just googling "radioactive steel" brings up some scary stories of steel mills accidentally melting down chunks of Cesium-137 in recycled scrap. China and India seem to have bad track records with regulating this stuff.

I don't think it's out of the question to imagine that contaminated metals end up being used in illegal manufacturing. I suppose the danger here is that watches are kept so close to the body. I'm no expert on this by any means, but when you hear about cellphone radiation the advice seems to be that it is a minor concern and it's best not to keep your phone snuggled up to your balls all the time in your front pocket (guilty).

I'm not saying this is the case with reps, but it is something to consider. Anyone with a nice big rep collection got a geiger counter laying around?

Yeah fly ash sounds pretty crappy now that you mention it. I hear it makes an awesome powder coated finish though!
