Help, how to remove ink from NATO strap?

F**K i accidentally broke a blue ink pen and played around with it without looking. A couple of secons later I realized that I had ink all over my hands, my shirt, and the worst - on my blue and white nato strap! Unfortunately it came all over the white part of the strap.

Is there any way to remove the ink? It is my favourite strap and it is impossible to buy a new one (It came with a watch from Fossil and I have not found any replacement watch bands in that style). Maybe some alcohol based solution? It is a regular blue ink, not permanent style. Is it possible to just wash it away with a lot of soap?

rub in some salt, let it impinge well and long, wash out with soap under warm water.

or

soak with milk and then use alcohol (medical) to rub, wash out

Google sometimes helps :)

A lot can be found on google if you know what to look for. (which I didnt) For example most of the trusted dealers and most of the watch knowledge in here can quite easily be found elsewhere with google.

But I like it here at RWI, and thought that some of you maybe had the experience with staining a nato strap or know how the special fabric in natostraps react to different cleaning solutions.

Also, if posting the solutions in a thread - everybody gets to see it and will find it if searching for it in the future.

Actually I have not tried anything yet as I am afraid it will spread and be impossible to remove if I do something wrong. Also I dont know how the fabric will react to the different remedies? I dont even know what material it is, is it some kind of nylon?

I assume you have no children :p

If I were you I'd get this soaked as quickly as possible. Once the ink has entered the nylon fibers this will be a PITA.

Your nato is quite robust, otherwise the colors would have washed out rightaway when you eat, wash your hands, catch some rain etc.

The ink killer works well, it does not cause any bleeding.

Also you may ask in your local drugstore. They should have stain removers galore. Ask for Dr. Beckmann's they are the leading brand here.

Distilled water is also good for cleaning, put it in an ultrasonic bath together with a drop of dish washer liquid.

Carbona makes stain removers for specific stains. It's been a while but I think they make one for ink. Stuff works amazingly well, without destroying fabric.
Try a supermarket or good hardware store.

Hairspray is good, but I find that if you blot it with fingernail polish, ink will be gone as I once realized the hard way that a pen had made it all the way to the dryer. Other than the ink everywhere, the clothes were clean and dry.
