Do you buy fantasy models?

I've done a lot of browsing and found many watches that don't seem to have a gen counterpart. They seem to be called "fantasy" quite a bit on here so I'll stick with that.

So, do you buy fantasy models? Please share why or why not.

I've been looking at a couple of Breguet and Patek Philippe fantasy models. In general I'd prefer a close replica but there aren't many good ones of those brands, so I'd settle for a fantasy version. Most watch manufacturers have a huge range of different watches, so people probably wouldn't know as long as it's not too outrageous.

I recently bought a nice v3 GMT IIc with a "Pepsi" colored "ceramic" (...not real ceramic, of course.) bezel. There's no model like it in the current Rolex catalog. It looks great and I've never received more positive remarks about a watch before. I like it and I'm comfortable wearing it. I believe it's okay if you're okay with it.

Fantasy vintage is great. Allows you take aspects from various gens you like and build something trully unique.

Naw, not yet... I still have a few more to collect before I stray the path. I will not say "never" though.

Sure. For example, right now I'm after a Tourbillon and almost all of the nice ones are fantasy models.

Yes, I do -- accidentally. I still am a noob and have a lot to learn, and I have found out (from more experienced members) that the reps I've purchased and shown off in "Eyecandy" were "fantasy" models. Still, I liked them & wear them. I feel comfortable that most "civilians" wouldn't have a clue about them being fantasy -- and if I were called out by a fellow member -- or a gen owner who took time to learn about his brand -- I'd admit it. BFD. I love 'em; I wear 'em.

I have a few. But I'm not into them as much any more. I mostly got them because I didn't know what I was doing at first, just had the watch craze.

I never was interested in fantasy models but got one in exchange for a broken watch from a TD. Now it's my daily beater!

That's a lovely looking sub! I prefer vintage fantasy rather than contemporary...
