Yet another shipping issue

For the last 6 days EMS and the USPS sites list my order as "Origin Post is Preparing Shipment." I know the EMS site isn't reliable but I would think USPS would be better tracking. Part of the reason I'm concerned is that this is not my first order (my first order arrived in less than a week to the USA and the tracking seemed to be accurate). So I'm wondering if my order is sitting in a room collecting dust or if it is on its way. Thanks!

Probably on its way. I've had tracking sitting on "preparing shipment" go directly to "out for delivery". I've also had delivered packages that still show not having shipped outside of Asia. Tracking is not a bad thing to have, but you'll go crazy hitting refresh all the time.

EMS tracking numbers are VERY unreliable, even in the USPS system.
I've found about a 50% rate of accuracy on the tracking.

They do seem to improve in accuracy once entirely in USPS hands (after being released from US Customs)... Wait quite a bit longer before you get worried.

Yup, Mr Rodgers is right. Until USPS has it in their hot little hands, forget it. Even then if it has been wrongly recorded further up the line it may not show until it shows at your door. The only thinmg you need tracking for is to watch for failed attempted deliveries. That usualy gets recorded correctly at any reate.

EMS tracking is ONLY useful for driving yourself nuts. I believe that was the original intent of the tracking system

Thanks for the replies. You guys are probably right; tracking drives you nuts and is notorious for being wrong. I guess I'm just frustrated because my first order got here so incredibly fast and I was expecting the same from this one!

You will soon learn there is no rhyme or reason to EMS shipping... I had two parcels shipped by one dealer at the same time with sequential tracking numbers... Literally shipped seconds apart... One arrived 8 days after the first... The first never showed up in the tracking at all. The later arriving package had super-accurate tracking strangely.

If you are in the US, your package may be in the hands of DHL. My last two EMS packages were delivered by DHL.....which was not trackable beyond the date it was shipped.

I thought all EMS goes through the USPS once it gets to the US, no?

They did use USPS. Looks like they may be using DHL as well. I don't know why. Maybe they had a back log or issues with USPS in some areas?

I think they use both. My last packages was USPS but the one before that was DHL.

Update: package is in USA (NY) which is a good sign. EMS tracking still stinks (it is a day behind USPS and not as detailed).
