Well,

Update from this thread:
http://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/dssd-sub-c-pearl-mod-72312

The work continues and it is getting better (I think). I previously posted a couple different versions. Today are some updates. We all know what the GEN pearls look like, but heres one for reference anyway. Someone posted a sheet from Rolex which shows the actual construction. Would seem easy, but it's not. The pearl holders are not flat like the gen.

Now for the question. Johnny Deepsea suggested using the windshield crack filler to coat over the pearl. (thats a total freaking mystery how that stuff works because it doesn't air dry at all).

I've tried the clear epoxy, it doesn't look too bad, except when I mix it, there are tiny air bubbles which you can see up close. (Well with a lope anyway).

So I need some suggestions for a simulated sapphire cover over the pearl.

Thoughts, comments, suggestions?

Wow Sinda,

That pearl mod is starting to look awsome. Easily the closest looking I've seen. For the "sapphire cover" You could try car clear coat. It dries pretty hard and shiny. The only thing to watch is that its a lot thinner than Epoxy so would have to be added very carefully.

Keep up the good work though, looks great so far!

Very nice, you can avoid bubbles by mixing in greater quantities

I have tried that one, it is not too bad... to make it look right, you have to apply a few light coats though...
