SA - QC - hmm!?

Have a look at these pics of an SA I have ordered with PT - everything seems fine apart from the baton markers - I'm pleased they are individual pairs, but there is some slippage/inaccurate placement on some of them - I 'might' replace the dial at some point with a blue gen anyway, but I'd rather not do it too soon since I am having my 'white' SA FrankenFaced as it is.

Having never had a visible quality issue before in a preview pic, should I refuse and ask that they find another or am I being too picky?

How does it compare to the one they have on PT website? If they have a more accurate version, then definitely ask for another one, IMHO!

Well on their website, they have the older single piece baton dial. So it's good this is 2 piece, but it seems a bit clumsily done - my white dial one wasn't perfect, but more accurate placement than this.

I've sent a pic back with the specific baton placement issues marked and asked for them to show me another one.

Do you think it's an impossible ask?

with some "trusted dealers" these days, it is.
there has been some discussion lately in a few threads about the whole "qc pics" concept, and i have had my own very recent experience where the point of these pictures has become obscured.

if you were standing in front of a table of available watches, wouldn't you want to look at and study them all to pick the one you thought was the best? so as a surrogate we have these qc pics, great idea in concept but these guys don't want to dick around with us picky hobbyists anymore, they just want to collect our money and ship a watch, crooked markers and all.

Batons look terribleask for a different watch with better batons

I agree - I wondered whether I should just put up with it, but to be honest at $300+ it's not a cheapie rep, and since I have already seen that they can put batons on properly on other SA, I see little point in tolerating this.

Waiting for pt to get something back from the factory.

Give it a shot!! Thats what the QC pics are for right?? The 12 o'clock marker was out whack on the QC pics Josh sent me of my SA. He found another that looked way better no questions asked. Those uneven batons will drive you bananas.

Well PT have come back to me and said the factory will not exchange it because all their watches are like that lol! - and they don't see it as a quality issue!! - looks like I'll need a refund

Might have to look around a bit longer for a better quality build apart from that it looks good you would feel like kicking yourself every time you looked at it.

Wow, I'd be upset if one of my watches came through like that. These aren't canal st reps. What are these dealers thinking!?! (rhetorical)

Good that you caught it, I might not have. In a way QC pics are better than being there in person as the macro brings out details (like this) that some might miss in person. Hopefully PT comes through!

Tis true - I did scale the pics down to about life size and looked to see how noticeable the flaws were (of course I already knew where to look, so hardly scientific!), but the spacing between the batons, as well as the misaligned ends were obvious enough to me that I would have been irritated by them (i'm a designer by trade - spacing and allignment are biggies in my eyes!)

So still awaiting PT's 'perfect' version. I'm not expecting perfection at all, but there has to be some reasonable level of acceptability I think.
