Hey all,

I'm new member of this great forum. I have found lots of good advices here already and now I think I'm ready to make my first buy.
I have gen Omega Speedmaster AUTOMATIC ´92 and that was a gift.
I have no actual knowledge of reps. I hope that I'm not going to just waste my money because of my passion to buy at least one rep watch.

Here's my list in no special order :

1 : http://ptswisswatch.com/pt-recommen...eal/product_info.php/cPath/57/products_id/170

2 : http://ptswisswatch.com/pt-recommen...ina/product_info.php/cPath/57/products_id/168

3 : http://ptswisswatch.com/pt-recommen...nge/product_info.php/cPath/57/products_id/165

4 : http://ptswisswatch.com/pt-recommen...ack/product_info.php/cPath/57/products_id/166

I thought that Precious Time is the place I should buy from. Reasons are that seller is in Trusted Dealer List and I'm in EU area so I have better chance to get my watch through the customs.

I want a watch that has hardly any problems so seller recommend me to buy SWISS movement watch.

Pls help me in every way you can and if you think that I'm already choosing wisely give me your opinion about these watches.

I'm really waiting to see your answers.. Thanks in advance :)

Ps. After buy I will upload photos and first impression of the watch here..

The general opinion is that you don't need to pay for Swiss movements and may as well buy the cheaper clones because that's what you're likely to get anyway.

Asian clone movements are quite ok.

More than ok. My Milgauss with asian movement is keeping within +3/4 seconds a day.

I'd have to agree with the Asian movement comments above - especially since the watches you are looking at are not chronograph watches anyway. Besides, what assurance do we have that the "swiss" movements are more reliable?

If anything goes bonkers later on, you could get a watchsmith to fix it - contingent liability, rather than an upfront cash outflow. If nothing goes wrong, you're gold and would have saved a tidy sum. And, since you're in the EU, you've got so many members on this forum from EU (Domi springs to mind) who could help you fix or swap in a genuine ETA.

On top of that, for the PAM111 (second on the list), recommend you look for the PAM111J (the one on your list is a 111H) which is touted as the most accurate to genuine for the 111 series, so far.

For the two Planet Oceans (3 and 4), make sure you ask for the no happy-feet logo version (which just came out in late 2010). Advantage of the Ultimate PLanet Ocean is that, later on, if you've got the cash and like this sorta thing, you could get modders to put in genuine parts for you (as the genuine parts are easily available).

Thanks for comments so far.

I first asked about this watch from Precious Time
: http://ptswisswatch.com/product_info.php/products_id/73

Then I asked witch ones are closest to original and top notch watches.
PT suggestion was that I should look PT Recommends section watches.

From there my list was following :

1 : http://ptswisswatch.com/pt-recommen...lue/product_info.php/cPath/57/products_id/160

2 : http://ptswisswatch.com/pt-recommen...ono/product_info.php/cPath/57/products_id/270

3 : http://ptswisswatch.com/pt-recommen...ite/product_info.php/cPath/57/products_id/265

4 : http://ptswisswatch.com/pt-recommen...eal/product_info.php/cPath/57/products_id/170

5 : http://ptswisswatch.com/pt-recommen...ina/product_info.php/cPath/57/products_id/168

6 : http://ptswisswatch.com/pt-recommen...nge/product_info.php/cPath/57/products_id/165

7 : http://ptswisswatch.com/pt-recommen...ack/product_info.php/cPath/57/products_id/166

8 : http://ptswisswatch.com/pt-recommen...rono/product_info.php/cPath/57/products_id/91

9 : http://ptswisswatch.com/pt-recommen...hite/product_info.php/cPath/57/products_id/56

And then PT recommend me to buy "Swiss" movement watch for more reability and list just got to 4 watches. I don't know any other prices than the first Breitling Navitimer's price.

Now I have to think again what should I buy.. This is hard and takes time but even thinking about buying is exiting :)

Haha - that's the fun of shopping isn't it? For prices, why don't you look around at the sites of the other Trusted Dealers for price references - they should have some if not all of the same items.

If I were you (but I'm not), I'd go for the Panerai 288K. A lot of ppl think this is the best replica of 2010. But, ultimately, depends on your taste.

Yep, it is fun to shop :) Just got the e-mail from PT and all watches seems to be on same price range.

I now asked questions chisin recommend me to ask and I'm waiting for a answer.
Panerai 111J instead of 111H and Planet Ocean without happy feet logo.

I will also look at another Trusted Dealer sites too. I just want my watch to be as good as it can be. I want to show couple of disbelievers that there's a good rep's out there :) Even though I haven't ever seen one ever.. at least I don't know have I or not :)

Also I asked about Panerai 288K because it is one of my favorites too..

PT answered..

There's 111J available if I prefer it.. Why exactly I should I prefer it??
Planet Ocean has new dial so it's without happy feet logo.
I have looked around other dealers now and I think I'm going to order from PT.

What do you think about box sets? Should I order watch with box set?

Still haven't decided what I will order.. Couple of days thinking time.

I wouldn't bother with box sets, personally speaking. Having loads of boxes cluttering up your room is annoying!

Put the money towards a nice watch box for all your watches :)

Why exactly should you prefer the 111J (over the 111H)? Because according to the Panerai experts on the forum, it's the most accurate to genuine Panerai for the 111 series available from our dealers. So, if you really want a 111, the 111J is the way to go (you can always get someone to put in a swiss movement later, if that's what you really want).

But if you want the most accurate rep compared to the genuine from your list above, I'd go for the 288K, personally.

Thanks for great answers :) I have to first order one rep and then I know do I need watch box for my watches.

Now my 2 favorites are PAM 288K and Omega Planet Ocean. Two different style watches but I can't decide..

In what price range should these watches be?
I have done little comparing but some forum post's here confuses me. How much would you be ready to pay?

What confuses you? As for the prices, if new from dealer, there wouldn't be much difference between the various dealers, probably +/- USD10-20?

Anyway, if this is your first rep, I really do hope you will have a good experience - and for that, please do take your time to read more from the various sub-forums of the different brands and what to expect from reps. No need to rush :) The items should still be there waiting for you. The fun is in the shopping, remember? :)

This is fun, maybe too fun.. It's starting to disturb my working and money earning :)

Confusing thing is still the movement. When I buy my first rep I wan't to enjoy it and not worry does it work or not. I don't want to change movement or anything anytime soon.

Another thing is the bracelet.. I just hope that reps have good bracelet's.
Is the stainless steel better than leather?
How long bracelet's last?
How is bracelet and case attached together?
I'm maybe worrying too much!

I read all the time these forums and I'm getting more "confused" all the time.
I'm glad though that I'm learning all the time.
Sure thing is that I'm now heading to the right direction than by just ordering watch without thinking or reading this forum.

Heh, you're darn right there...I'm typing this at work, even as I've got a report I'm supposed to finish in the next half hour :p

Ok, first, we all would like all our reps, and not just our first rep, to be ok and work great and not face problems.

Now, I don't want to be a scaremonger or anything, but please bear in mind that these are reps and quality may not be a key concern of the rep factories, so you have to prepare yourself for the possibility that there MAY be problems with the watch - but don't let that disappoint you if it happens, it's part of the hobby. Most of the time, there won't be a problem (and especially if you get the movement serviced, everything should be good for a long, long time).

If you take a look around the forum, you will see a number of threads about people experiencing problems with their watches. But there are even MORE threads of people receiving great watches with no problems at all. So, in short, be prepared for problems (and if you have any, I think the friendly members on this forum are happy to give advice), but more likely you will not face any.

You should also ask your dealer for QC pictures of your purchase, if possible, prior to shipping to see if there are any problems. This is a great way to ensure that, at least, the cosmetic aspects of the watch you are about to receive is A-OK.

On your other questions regarding the bracelet...between stainless steel and leather, that's really up to your personal taste. What do you think looks good on your wrist and whether it matches your personality. How long these leather or steel bracelets last I think depends on how much punishment you put them through in your daily wear.

From my personal experience....replica leather straps are a hit-or-miss thing. Sometimes they are very good, sometimes they aren't and look really cheap. A lot of the members here will buy leather straps from third-party sources after they get the watch.

Is stainless steel better? Well, again, I think there are those that are nice, and some which doesn't look all that great to me.

Some watches only come in leather, and some only come in steel bracelets - but that doesn't mean you can't mix and match them to suit your own personal preference :)

At the end....don't worry too much. The idea is to have fun :) And good luck.
