Should we have a "BANNED" Section?

I just saw that another guy I thought was OK was recently banned and PMs disabled. I've been here several years and this happens from time-to-time.

Now, maybe it's just my morbid curiosity - but if I missed the drama, I always want to know what happened. Am I the only one?

So how do we feel about adding a "BANNED" section in which the Admin team tells us who was banned and a brief synopsis of why, or just a link to the thread where it all went down. Each thread could be closed so comments could be shut out, hopefully averting more controversial discussion about the subject.

I'm not looking for the Admin team to "justify" their decision. They could ban me just for posting this thread and, while I wouldn't like or agree with it, the decision would be as "fair" as it needs to be. I've been here long enough to trust our Admin team and their decisions implicitly. This is just about curiosity for information.

Col? Your thoughts?

I'm not sure we need a "Dunce's Corner" section. If a member is involved with another member that gets banned and needs communication, please contact one of the Staff.

That would've saved me a half an hour this morning before I realized I could just look at his profile and search recent posts.

i agree but i feel its not just for ppl knw-ing how or what happened..but more for the benefit of honest ppl who r sincere about joining this forum but either didnt complete the reading of all the T&Cs or have join for quite awhile&do not remember the details..

Some of the reasons leading to a ban can be quite complex. Often, unless someone is a spammer or something like that, it's a combination of many things. I personally think that in most cases as long as the banned member realises why he or she was kicked out, that should be plenty enough. But if someone is curious, I guess it doesn't hurt to ask.

This instance just spurred me to volley an idea I've had in the past.

I know this section could create more controversy in some cases, but I also see how it could help in at least 4 ways:
1) It could satisfy the curiosity of members.
2) It could save the time spent searching for the answer.
3) It could save the time and hassle of Mods and Admins having to answer the question multiple times through PMs.
4) It could serve as a "what not to do" tutorial thread for newer members.

Yes, that is what one would do first, but a simple list of banned (ex)members could sometimes help (on all fora btw).

I think a banned section would be a great idea. Its not only interesting to read but members can learn from others mistakes.

Maybe a dumb question but....

Are all members who are banned on here banned permanently, or do some get short vacations like they do on other forums?

Just wondered is all!!

Over the years, I've seen several faces come and go... sometimes of their own free will... other times, I've honestly been concerned for the persons mental health after watching posts become less and less coherent and more and more confrontational.

My thought... if it is a prominent member of the board being removed, i.e. Staff/Mod/Admin/Trusted Dealer/ETC a locked post from Admin would probably save lots of grief.
If the banned user is not someone who's behavior could harm the board as a whole... let that slip into obscurity.

I'm a MYOB type person... (Mind Your Own Business), the banned folks had personal issues that cropped up and took them down. That is their business, not mine to peruse for giggles. If that person had deals pending with other members, that is an issue for those members and the staff here.

My 2 cents... now worth 1.13 cents in the current market.

I hate to see people like BMW go. He was a great man and one hell of an RWIer, but rules are rules and rookie mistakes can bite you in the arse. If the mods bent the rules for one person they would have to bend the rules for everyone. I would like to see a ban list or section so we would know what or who was booted, just incase we had transactions lingering with those people. Looks like my transactions with BMW were completed in the nic of time.

Id be all for a banned section, or maybe something broader that encompasses a lot of bad behavior. Perhaps a section for what not to do with examples drudged up from other sites, fake ebay ads and whatnot. Like the dark side of the dark side section.

I know we can all hunt around, but its like bringing back the stocks for all of the public to gawk at. "Let this be a warning to you all," and whatnot...

+1

I would also think it's a great idea.
It took me a while earlier on to find out what happen.
2 weeks ago I was in the middle of a trade when while asking via pm the guys address he got banned. I pm the admin, but most of them were not able to tell me what was going on. Result, I bothered almost all the mods and admins to find out the problem a total of 20 pm have been exchanged. It was a small hassle for me and probably a greater one for all of them am I'm sure they have much better things to do. What a waste of time...

Having this section would be a permanent reminder of the rules... Pretty much like when you see on the news that someone has been arrested for a felony... It tells you what you should not do, even if you know you should not do it... It enforce rules...
