Tell them to fix it or keep it or find another one. If not refund your money.

wouldn't fix it, wouldn't switch for another one...don't want a refund as i'll lose money on the back end getting it back and i don't buy watches frivolously, i research and sit on my desires for quite some time until i'm sure that is exactly what i want.

so in this case i was put into a corner. needless to say, next time a buy comes around i'll be moving on to whoever is the latest and greatest dealer of the moment and take my chances with their service.

this has happened to me twice now; new dealer all gung ho to provide excellent service and then 5 months later, the service and quality control goes out the window.

Then that's not a QC picture, that's a "Here's your watch, like it or not" picture.

I think you should definately get the mods involved. Trusted dealer my ass!

Pil, get the mods involved. Customer service shouldn't drop off if it's promised as part of normal business.

that's exactly what the deal was.
i won't name this dealer because he is one of the top 3 on this site and he does make many other members here satisfied with their purchases so he doesn't deserved to be slagged by just me.

but like i said there seems to be a pattern with these guys.

next.

Pil - your buying experience is your experience; just because others are praising the seller (TS, I assume?) it doesn't mean your experience is any less valid. Others may be having the same experience as you and also keeping quiet because "it's not the done thing"! There is nothing wrong with stating the facts, they are what they are.

Post a review, let others decide for themselves and others with the same experience also chime in. It will also flag to admin that there may be an issue if more than one person has it happen (although one is still too many for a Trusted Dealer IMO).

I'm not trying to be argumentative here, but you have to admit, there is some hair splitting going on here. QC pictures are great to make sure it's the right watch, working, no serious defects etc. etc. Here we are talking about a dial that MIGHT be MAYBE 1mm off. It also might be due to the slight angle of the picture, or it just needs a little twist of the crown to line up the date.

I get it, it's your hard earned money, and you have every right to want perfection, but it's just not realistic sometimes. I think its great when people post their QC pics so others can point out something that they might have missed, but I'd hate to see it abused*, it would only mean higher prices for everyone.

I've bought a lot of reps, some have arrived "perfect", some have needed a tweak here or there. It's part of the game. These are not $5k+ gens after all...

*I'm not saying anyone here is abusing anything, I think it was handled perfectly, ask for what you want, accept the response, probably shop elsewhere next time.

That said, if indeed it is slightly misaligned, that's an easy fix even I could probably handle

bigdeal,

Agree with MOST of what you had to say. But come on.......that date looks like shit! Unless it is just a slight twist of the crown, which I doubt it means rather serious work, not an "easy fix" anyone could do.

Would you really be happy with it and just "shop somewhere else next time"?

yup, I would... just last week for example:

http://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/dealer-sent-me-wrong-model-71822

and the fix:
http://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/falling-2-what-should-doi-72143

I'm no expert, but in the pics it sure looks like if it's off, it's by a tiny amount. I'd think there'd be enough play in there to get where it need be without too much work...

OK. You ordered a blue dial and accepted a black dial. That's on you if they sent QC pictures and you didn't notice, or if you didn't ask for QC pictures and just got the blue dial. Either way that could have been avoided. This customer asked for QC pictures, received them and all is NOT good. Different deal entirely.

As for your fix of the "2" on the dial of the Breitling rep....do you really think that is comporable to a datewheel fix. Or are you referring to the rehaut alignment?

After all I did say the DATE looked like shit? And I've read the "how to" on date wheel replacement and it's not something I'd want to tackle. Once again kind of a different deal. Your hanging "2", very slight imperfection. This misaligned datewheel, glaring problem you'll be staring at every day!

I don't bother to ask for QC pictures, If I don't like what I get, I don't buy from them again.

Point is, you can't expect perfection. The date font is way too big too, probably done that way to mask the lower than 2.5x magnification... If it was "right sized" you probably wouldn't be able to tell it was slightly out of position(in the pic, NOT necessarily in practice). Pick your poison...

Whatever. Datewheels turn, this one looks like it needs to be turned. On every watch I have, you can move the date around at least a few degrees without changing it via the crown. MAYBE the dial could be adjusted(or maybe it's just the picture), that's it.

If you expect to get perfection out of the box, or AD like service from REP dealers you will be consistently disappointed.

Nitpicking flaws you aren't even sure are there, based on one picture, of a watch you haven't even seen yet, and expecting a dealer to cater to your every whim, "just in case" just doesn't make sense to me. Get it, look at it for what it is(a rep watch), and fix or get fixed what you'd like.

(the Breitling is just one example, I've had plenty of bad reps... It's part of the game)

good night

:thumbsup:Looks ok to me, too, Big! I never know about the crown on the clasp (as to were it should go) or the stamping on the crown; but, hell, I don't care. I'm not really fussy. As a Rolex lover, I'm going to check this out. Thanks for the heads up, Big!!

the dealer is not Timeshops and in the past when the dealer in question sent me a pic of a watch and i found a glaring flaw he went and chose another watch for me willingly without that flaw so...duh, why wouldn't i expect this same type of service again?

this was a watch this dealer did not have on his own site so i sent a pic from another dealer's site and the watch in the pic does not have a crooked dial or misaligned date font so why should i expect my dealer to try to give me such a watch?

i've posted about this kind of thing before: i used to love Hont, i bought quite a few things off him and then i started seeing people getting Rolex subs from him with ridiculously crooked pearls...i mean who wants that shit? and then he was telling these noobs to send it back for a replacement, why send the thing in the first place?

i want a dealer who is going to be my eyes in the deal like i was there myself looking at a table of DJII's and handling them and selecting the best one, not just grabbing the first one closest to my hand and getting it home and going "oh well, i guess i'll just have to accept this effed up one...dho de dho..."

as a community i think we need to hold the dealers we choose to use to a higher standard, no offense bigdeal, but most of us here are a little ocd about our watches and a crooked dial is not something anyone is going to live with and if i can choose one without a crooked dial i certainly will....and should have the right to do so. hell i'll even pay a premium for this service because it gets me a killer rep. there are excellent examples out there of the watches we drool over so why shouldn't we be able to source the cherry ones? let the trolls who buy off the scam sites get the shite.

in this case not wanting to take the hit on a money refund to only try to get the watch from another dealer and pay another shipping charge, as there is another watch as part of this buy, is not worth it to me. so i'll be taking the DJII to my local guy to have the work done, and pay the cost of that. sure my choice, but it is a hassle.

i won't publicly slag this dealer because he didn't really do anything to screw me over, i just want better service so let the revolving dealer door keep swinging.

I'm assuming this is a SS bracelet.........right? If so find out what they would charge you for the proper bracelet and I'll give you the same amount for the Presidential.

Win - Win!

okay so i emailed them and told them about the wrong bracelet and when i wanted to order a daydate with an oyster bracelet (to swap the bracelets with my datejust with presidential bracelet) they wouldn't allow it because accdg to them the price they had on the daydate was a promo price so they wouldn't make an income on it...
they got the bracelets mixed on my datejust and theyre still thinking about income? =(
accdg to them the bracelets are just worth $10..

If they say the bracelets are only worth $10, ask if you can buy an Oyster for $10... ;)

(Assuming you want an Oyster!)
