I've been reading up on vintage PAMs as part of my first vintaging project, for which I am thinking of using a Silix rep which I will wear for a while while working out which mods (caseback and a better dial, I guess) would be appropriate to perform by someone like Nightwatch. Thanks for those who replied to my earlier post - was a good start.

I've picked the following 3 models from Silix and would appreciate thoughts of more experienced members as to how good they are "out of box" as reps and which one would you pick for a similar project or just to wear as is and why:

1. PAM052 (http://www.silix-prime.com/pans052-p-1764.html)
2. PAM097 (http://www.silix-prime.com/pans097-p-1814.html
3. PAM 102 (http://www.silix-prime.com/pans102-p-1900.html)

I really like the 102 with Cal dial but the other two are also very nice...

Thanks for your suggestions and advice. I will cross post in the Vintage forum as well.

I'd go for the three of them, but that's just me,

Sorry, I meant to say: "I went for the three of them" , but that's just me,

Did you get them from Silix? Which one do you like the most and what stands out (eg dial, hands, lume) on any particular model? I've been trying to get this from Silix but so far no response to neither PMs or email so I might have to look elsewhere...

You could try asking on HomageForum too, they have some knowledgeable chaps on there :)

I'm sorry, I have bought so many over these past few months that my head is spinning. Also, I'm not very good at navigating this site and haven't had time yet to even learn how to post pictures.
I got one from www.jacksontse.com (I think) and I am waiting on the other 2 from Silix. Can't help you with your questions as I have nothing to compare. I like the one I have and I am sure I will also like those that are due in.

I think in the end that you are the best person to judge. If for now you only want one, then go for the one that makes your heart tick faster. Anyhow, I hope you get what you want and I hope that you will get replies from more experienced hands than me. Best Wishes,

Having received all 3, I vote for PAM 102. But it's just my vote. I love it in fact. Sorry, have just noticed that the one from silix-prime has California printed at the top. I don't think that this is correct? Others may correct me, but I think I am right. I have two of them. I got one on the bay for about £30 and I think the other came from either Davidson or Jackson. Both don't have the California. Look around my friend and enjoy shopping. It's almost as good as pulling the trigger on the one that you really have your heart set on.

Having received all 3....

I am leaning towards 052 as I love the dial. Having asked around, none of recommended dealers have it - or rather, dont have it in stock so cant produce any decent photos of lume, dial uplose etc. It is also the cheapest of the 3 so I wonder how noticeable this difference in quality is? Can you let me know your thoughts as a proud owner of the whole troika?

You'd struggle to build that for the money they're asking. Bargain if you're after Swiss

And....THIS is exactly why I haven't bought this one yet. I don't know why this is not priced more reasonably. Problem is...where else can you get this setup without having to assemble?

X2. Get it reshaped and get a new southy dial with T hands with NW caseback and youre set!

Thanks for advise. I actually bought both of them, awaiting delivery in the next few weeks, I guess.

I am only starting out in this hobby, so let me just decode what you say:
- Get it reshaped - what does this mean exactly? Can I do it myself? I hear of ppl reshaping this and that but I dont undertand how they do it and what is the end goal?
- New southy dial - these dials I've seen in quite a few posts and they do look superb but I cant figure out who sells them? I've tried searching for members called Southy on a few forums, including this one, but no luck. Ay hints?
- T-hands - no clue what it is
- NW caseback - NightWatch, I assume?Hes got an online store now so I guess this should be easy once I get the watches. Thanks again.

Cheers in advance...
