Hello all

Waiting on some QC pics and movement regulation vid from Lay.

Can i ask what is it i should be looking for in the video when it shows the reg of the watch?
I know nothing about it whatsoever and don't wanna get caught out on my first buy from a dealer.
Any and all advice would be brilliant.
Hope my question is clear enough

Well, there's two main things you want to look for, th BPH and the s/day it has been callibrated to.

The BPH will show you that you have what you've paid for. ie if you pay for an asian ETA clone but the screen only shows 21000 bph then it's probably a 21j cheapo movement in it. If it shows 28,800 bph then you've either got an ETA clone or a genuine swiss movement.

The other one is just the seconds gain/lost per day. The closer to zero the better of course but anything within 10-15 seconds is pretty good.

Remember that a Rolex costing many thousands of pounds only has to be within 6-10 seconds accurate per day to get the COSC accuracy standard on it.

Hope that helps

It's something you always have to be aware of. I was sent QC pics which looked great, absolutely spot on, but then I saw the QC shot of the timing machine, +2 seconds a day, also fantastic, but saw that it was 21,000 bph and knew immediately it was cheap movement not the ETA clone I had ordered.

Definately need to be attentive to these things.

Sorry that should be 21,600 bph for the 21j movement.

just a question or two on some QC pics

does that look just like dirt or possibly damage to the bracelet link?

there looks to be a mark or something to the 30 marker on the bezel and possibly dust on the crystal aroudn the datewheel.

also pearl seems off to the right but the picture is over exposed in that area.

any thoughts or opinions, have sent message to dealer regarding the above.

It looks raised, seems to be dirt.

Pearl seems to be a tiny bit to the right, but the picture may be misleading. I'd request another pic up front to make sure.

The thing at 30 is a dust speck IMHO.

Other than that I'd say look forward to getting this beauty.

On bracelet link is just a bit of dirt. Wouldn't worry too much about it.

On the face, well it's only apparent in one of the pictures so I would also say that it's just a spec of lint or dust on the crystal during photography.

The pearl, is not bad. Is a minute fraction to the right, and I reckon it's not going to be noticeable at all on the watch once you get it. As long as it's not hanging off one side of the triangle mark (which it isn't) it will be fine.

Looks like a good watch as well.

Thanks Bonesey, I learned something and that's usually good... I think.
