I've been keeping an eye out for gen vintage IWCs on eBay.
Most dance above USD900.

Then I came across these SS Minute Repeaters on Trevor's...
Looked pretty decent dollar for vintage + 21j's (presumably)

Thought, hmmm why not?

Besides this one. I know Timeshops has a good range of all sorts of watches including vintage daytonas for the magic 68USD figure. Have seen the occasional vintage omega too.

Questions...
- Do you know anywhere that has nice selection of vintage IWC reps?
- Any idea the accuracy of the rep in the link above?
- All other thoughts?

Any input appreciated.
Cheers!

The watch you posted above indeed looks nice. I personally haven't seen anyone do any comparison review of vintage IWC's but I can't imagine it being very accurate with that faux minute repeater button. The watch looks very nice nonetheless. Is it display back? If I were you I'd try to look for a nice old strap, slap it on that IWC and wear the hell out of it

Here is pic of mine. It has the ST 3600 movement which is rock solid. The most glaring flaw is on the movement. The word "International" is misspelled along with some minor flaws which I don't worry about. I removed the rep strap and put a nice Di-Modell on it which has a little flap under the buckle because the rep buckle can cut into your wrist on this watch. But that little fix and the watch feels great.
This will sound silly but the watch sounds really great when it ticks. Like a vintage pocket watch sound which I really like. Anyway I'm in a pinch for time but will post a movement shot later when I get back.

:) yep. i like to dig around some of these trusted dealers' backyards. there are some interesting finds that go unnoticed. Doesn't seem terrible for USD98 either. could do w/o the faux button as well.

it's a pretty solid looking old school back.

very nice. looks very similar.
Save for the difference in crown width & dial finish.
I couldn't see the typo from Trevor's pics though.

where did you pick it up from & for how much.
If you don't mind sharing?

i've a few gen vintages.
(Omega, Favre Leuba, West End Watch Co. etc...)

i absolutely LOVE their noisy ticking, like a time bomb.

On the pic above, is it just me or does the dial look vintigized? I wonder if it's pure plain white in reality

It seems to be more of a cream color than white. Mine is definitely not white. Anyway, I'm considering dropping a genuine 6497 into this and replacing the the movement with all the funkified spelling errors. Then, for less than $300 I'd have a nice little vintage watch with a real swiss movement in it.

Funny how they put in the effort to do engraving, instead of stickers.
but get the spelling all wrong.

I think instead of "ADJ OFIVEOS", they might've meant "ADJ FIVE POS"

The Portugieser on the caseback is nicely spelt though, exactly like the Original.

That's definitely a nice way to solve the problem. Now that i look at your avatar, I think this watch will look amazing in RG!

I looked at the black face version of this one, I really like it. Might be my next purchase as I really enjoy the dress watches.

I've placed an order for this exact watch, no response from Trevor yet though probly on CNY until next week...I've looked all over and not been able to find anyone else whom carries it. If you find it somewhere else pls post it here so I'll know.

Thanks!

Good to hear this heads up has brought Trevor some business. :)

I've ordered a couple of watches from him, and paid up in full.
Except he's also gone silent since - likely a consequence of the CNY vacation.

I ordered this vintage from Trevor, just received it today and another iwc. I love them both.
