This is my first post, even though I've been a member for a long time (search is your friend). I decided to buy a Omega Aqua Terra, stainless steel with a white dial from a trusted dealer here. He attempted to send me a PP invoice and emailed me back to let me know I must get varified first before he can sell to me.
I simply will not give my bank acc't info to anybody online, do not care how safe PP says it is, I will not do it. I've had a PP acc't since 03, havn't had any issues purchasing from Ebay, PP "confirms" your credit card which I guess is confirming your address, so I'm confirmed, just not varified.
Anybody else have a problem giving PP their bank acc't info? Is that just a standard thing these days? Guess I'll run into this with other trusted dealers as well.

Google and the Paypal website are your friends:

"How Do I Become Verified?
Just Add and Confirm a Bank Account. We will send your account two small deposits. Enter these deposits on the PayPal website. Answer a quick confirmation phone call from our third-party authentication service to validate your information, and you're all set.

Get Verified using your credit card
Provide us with your info. We’ll make two small charges to your card. Return to PayPal and enter those charges along with the adjacent code as they appear on your credit card statement. We’ll reimburse you for the charges and you’ll be Verified."

Taken directly from the help page on the Paypal website.

In addition, if you are still not verified, call Paypal, they are very responsive and easy to work with.

Thx for the info naylor, it was surprising to me because I had previously talked to PP in length about this (PP had sent me an email stating I was aprroaching my spending limit) and was told I had to either give them my bank acc't info or apply/and be approved for a PP credit card.
I called them again today and spoke to a supervisor and was told the same thing, that in the US, you have to either add your bank acc't or get a PP CC, there is no other way to become varified.
He also let me know that being varified doesn't have any effect on a PP transaction for the buyer or seller, the pmt is guarenteed when made and handled the exact same whether the buyer is varified or not.

It may be different since you aren't in the U.S., I didn't think about that. I hope you get it worked out.

You really don't need to be worried about this to be honest. I've been address and bank account verified with PP for quite a while.

The person you are buying from NEVER sees bank account information, and only sees shipping address when you are making a professional purchase. It is EXACTLY the same as before, except now you have the option of spending a bit more :p

Really, this takes the hassle out of a deals you will be making, especially with folks shipping from overseas.

I agree, PayPal is definitely safe and you shouldn't have any concerns. This isn't like putting your bank account into a random payment web page; this is one of the largest (likely the largest) payment gateway services in the world.

I have been using PayPal for as long as I can remember. Used to be a money order guy before eBay and PayPal teamed up to provide a great service (at a cost of course).

I have just begun the verification process as we speak today. If you have online banking, apparently depending on if your bank allows, you can get verified instantly by entering your online banking username and details. Maybe you could try it. Hasn't worked for me yet and I'm fine with watching for the small deposits being made and then entering them back on the Paypal site.
