The owner of my company and his Dad are avid Rolex and Breitling collectors. They've never spotted any of the reps I've had to be fake. I just hate to show them many because they will think I'm making too much money !

I do not feel compelled to tell anyone anything one way or the other. Let them assume what they like about them. One big advantage I have in relation to this is that the commercial diving community is littered with gens., so I do not believe anyone assumes that my watches are reps.

All my friend and familly know I'm a rep collector.
Most of them have gen, Breitling, Rolexes, Panerai or IWC, but they are all just amazed by the quality of my reps.

All the people that are close to me know my watches are reps. Most of them even think my gen is a rep.

It's a mix for me. I try not to go for reps that I could never ever afford- but I would certainly never lie, and if I was asked outright, I would tell them. A few friends know I have a few reps, a few more recognise that my B&R 03 is gen, and I think assume the others are too, and a few couldnt care less. My family know that I have a mix of rep and gen- like many on here, I think its a hugely fascinating hobby, and I love the aesthetics of many the watches I collect, be it the gen B&R, rep prohunter, or gen G-shock.

I had gens before I found about about reps so everyone assumes all my watches are real and as I've never been asked, I've never had to answer!

everyone who knows me knows i cant afford a gen, those who i meet ask if the watch is real? (if they spot it) and my answer is off the cuff every time....is what real? can you see it? then it must be real!

No one has ever asked me but a few people have noted that it was a nice watch so I think most ppl think its gen although I never claimed it is

It all depends whether you can carry it off. Several times I was complimented on my watches and I told them they are knock offs. More often than not they don't believe that they are fakes.

I don't say anything about my watch unless someone asks, and since I don't wear many rolexes most of the time if they ask they have never heard of the company. "Hmmm Breitling, eh?." That being said I say it's a rep, which doesn't stop people from not believing me.

As I used to be an avid watch collector snob with low tolerance for badly made watches... Most of my friends would assume that my reps are gens. I tell some of my close friends that I buy reps but they aren't watch people so most of them can't tell one from another.

After the first year of this hobby, I have always followed the guidelines mentioned by CarbonRob. I do not buy reps of watches that I could not possibly afford.
