Absolutely.

I always told myself that if should ever be good enough to open up to take requests. I'd have a hard limit of how many watches I'd have on my posession. Probably not more than 3. But then again, that's just me.

If one is honest, it should be easy to set expectations early on and communicate after.

I think I said this exact same thing when Oascom went south.

I only keep the next three to four clients watches in house. All others stay on a waitlist until notified.

And again, unless they are ordering Gen parts I don’t have in stock, payment is AFTER work is completed.

Pitiful business practices again. It ain’t rocket science.

That's not for staff to disclose, if the affected parties want to chime in, they're obviously free to do so. You will find some reports in Nikz section. I can only say I dealt with 4 tickets, only 2 of which got their stuff back. @P..DR..D dealt with even more in the early phases.

Thank you for your effort on this. I was one of the two lucky ones.
I don't want to shed any bad blood. And as I am a very patient person, I was only worried when I saw the “Do not trade with me” badge.
I think it's a shame, because the work Nik had done for me was already very good. But in fact the moderators here had to intervene to get my parts back from Nik.

Thank you for looking after the community! And please look into the ones who massively overcharge for their services next. Many people do not know that they shouldn’t be charged for replacing a datewheel, a dial or hands for example if they already pay for a full movement service in my opinion.

As much as I agree with this, I feel RWI shouldn't dictate how much a private individual should charge for their craft.

I feel a bit guilty that I did not write about my experience in time for his review section. I got away with it, but you could tell he wasn't handling things the way he should have been some time ago.

At first Nicholas responded quickly to my DM and accepted my order. After sending the watch and money, there was radio silence for a few months. After a some emails and excuses I got the watch back with a mediocre job. There was some back and forth until everything was finally sorted out.

My point is that we tell everyone to be patient and wait. Sometimes that's not the right attitude. Having to wait a few months after sending the watch and money is not right. We should encourage reviews and make it clear that this kind of attitude is a red flag.

Exact same way I do it. Things will come up. They always do. May not even be something you can handle yourself (IE tariffs). It made me nervous even hanging onto one client's watch for repair when I was unable to source stems due to tariffs. Hopefully @Nikz19 will resolve issues with his customers.

First we need people to quit complaining how much it is for an overhaul on their rep! Expect a 1/10th overhaul fee just like the 1/10th watch price.

But do agree. That’s a scam charging for those items while charging for an overhaul.

Same here. Then came the story about the burglary in his workshop. I don't know if that's true. But ok, it was always communicated in advance (also here) that watchmakers have very long waiting lists. And at some point he was finished and everything was fine. An alarm sign? Perhaps.
But to pour a little water on the wine: I have yet to find a watchmaker who is reasonably reliable in meeting deadlines and exemplary in his communication. This makes it very difficult for customers to recognise and correctly interpret such alarm signs.

I never understood the tiered method to watch repair (there is a certain individual who will not be named on here, but he still does this to this day.)

If it's involving the movement, it needs to be disassembled to be inspected, completely, and then it would be imbecilic to not do a service on it.

Movements are complicated puzzles, and it requires a certain level of skill and patience to work on them, which is why services cost the way they do. If customers don't feel like paying it, they either can buy a new rep due to their inexpensive nature (well relative in comparison to what they are emulating) or learn how to fix them themselves and break a few movements in the process.

Greed. Entitlement.

And there's another component many members are guilty of. Treating these guys as gods. Defending them beyond the defendable. If I can make an appeal, don't roast a member as soon as he makes a bad review. Sure, many bad revirews are due to misinformation or wrong expectations. But a lot of them are righteous, and members get instantly flamed when they post one. This creates an aura of untouchability and people are afraid to post bad reviews. I admit things have become better lately, but we should all be calmer and give people the benefit of the doubt when they post.

This…
People defending like he was their father… come on guys 👀

I never understood the tiered method to watch repair (there is a certain individual who will not be named on here, but he still does this to this day.)

And therein lies part of the problem unfortunately.

Am not asking you to name this person, that's your prerogative, but your post resonated with me, because it's evident some members don't / won't leave feedback for fear of a backlash & it's a pet hate of mine.

Feedback, once truthful and factual is both encouraged & always valuable.

And if these "businessmen" can't take constructive criticism or respond to the feedback (am not talking about the emotive nonsense we see every other day, am talking irrefutable facts), is that someone you would recommend fellow members send their item's or money to?

Wouldn't you wish you saw this type of feedback before you sent your items/money?

If a post/thread on here helps one single member make a decision or save a $1, well then, that's what we're all about.

We are ReplicaWatchInfo.

Our USP, in my opinion, is in the accuracy & truthfulness of our information. We don't suffer fools, nor should we. We are not Reddit, we deal in facts here.

Bottom line, if you take someones money, you do a job, within an agreed timeline (or communicate any significant deviation) or you give the money back.

And if you don't you should be named/shamed.

Getting back to this toerag here.

A trusted watchmaker, limited to very very few, look how he has fallen.

Many successful jobs I'm sure, but then he got greedy, which resulted in HDT after HDT after HDT.
Lie after lie after lie.

I / we heard every excuse from him short of the cat ate the special post-it note with the safe code on it.

Members are adults & are responsible for how they spend their own money, but we need to help each other, and that starts by calling out some of the BS we see, when we see it.
